I finally got done with Servant of the Shard, and I liked it. The book started out slow, but near the middle (Specifically when Entreri decides to move against Crenshinibon), it picked up.

And it surprised me what Jarlaxle's family name was!!!

I especially liked how Entreri and Danica hated each other. The only real disappointment to me was the stupid way Sharlotta Vespers died! Egads! You'd think that two Racists such as Rai-guy and Kimmuriel would do worse to the woman they hated!

I really didn't think she should have died, at least yet.

Actually, he usually doesn't walk away unscathed.

From what I notice they get pretty beat up and wounded during those battles you mentioned.

With Drizzt and Wulfgar's battle with the Dragon, one of the got ice-burned, and they only won that battle with sheer luck.

Drizzt and Errtu's first fight, Drizzt almost died. I wouldn't call that walking away like nothing happened.

The Mirilith, he nearly got exhausted. Then he had to face Errtu again!

Cattie-brie almost succumbed to Hypothermia when she fell into icy water.

Then there is stuff I can't mention since you stopped at Legacy.

Also, as far as plot is concerned, well Drizzt did have to deal with tons of prejudice throughout the Dark Elf Trilogy and Icewind Dale Trilogy, and a little in Legacy as well.

There's Drizzt's feelings for Cattie-Brie.

The grief they all go through when Wulfgar is taken from them.

As well as the constant backstabbing of the evil characters with each other.

Yes, but it's a far far cry from Jamie Lannister walking around with a stump for a hand. You must admit, Salvatore's level as an artist is not on the "top shelf." It's not even in the same league as really good fantasy. It's commercial entertaining stuff. And, hey, teens and young adults need to be able to access a lot of the fantasy books -- that's part of the market.

I've been thinking about this last night, and I've finally found the right words for what I want to say:

"Saying R.A Salvatore is the best writer is like saying Buffy: The Vampire Slayer is the best tv show."

That's a real good analogy... I amaze myself sometimes...

Hey, I like Buffy: The Vampire Slayer It's one of the few TV shows that actually make me cry, and I ain't ashamed to admit that

Though I'm not saying he's the best writer, just not as worse as some I've read.

There are definitely writers that are better, I just fully emerse myself into Salvatore's books as much as I did for LOTR and Melanie Rawn's Dragon Prince and Dragon Star trilogies.

I just finished Sea of Swords, I loved it. I kept trying to figure out who L'enorinel was. I had completely forgotten what color Ellifain's eyes were.

I especially loved how Regis actually got to do stuff this time around! My biggest annoyance with Salvatore in the The Silent Blade was that he had seemed to have forgotten that Regis had been starting to participate much much more in Legacy of the Drow, and Regis didn't do much in The Silent Blade.

This time, though, he got to do stuff! Awesome! Also, after finally figuring out that Ellifain was L'enorinel, now I'm thinking of re-reading it because I can't help but think of her in a Cross-Dressing sort of aspect now. But first I'm going to read The Sword of Bedwyr as soon as I get it in the mail (I really want to see the Oliver de Burrows character!).

Was it just me, or was Shiela Kree a lesbian?

I avoid anything with Drizzt in it mainly because of the hype. I really tire of seeing every second character in NWN's named "Drizzt Dourden/Durdeen/Doren" (anything but the right spelling).

Some of RAS's books were good but now when I re-read the writing style almost seems childish if you know what I mean. It's like it is totally greared toward kids, with the language now appearing very simplified and the plotlines very average to my adult eyes. I don't know how to say that without sounding egotistical but someone has to know what I mean, eh?

Most things I've read or seen seems average to me

Nah...kidding.

Anyway I do agree that too many people use those names and don't try to make up their own.
