Yikes, sorry to hear about the whole van thing, Bungleau! Not fun, dealing with insurance and such, I know.

And for my lovely news in the same vein.....

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAACK! Well, you may recall that my co-worker (I use the term with WORK in it, loosely here) retired and thus left her portion of the regular office work to myself and the boss. You may also know that it was bad timing because in addition to our usual fare, we have several extra time consuming and labor intensive tasks and are missing some other staff in the department (who we are in process of replacing) to deal with as well.

And now........my boss is leaving too! Her house is on the market and as soon as it sells or she gets a job downstate, she's gone.... I may scream...no, wait, did that.....kick something...no, wait, did that.... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ck!

And I barely had time to have lunch today.....and this is a QUIET time....or should be..... oh my..... *gulp*.....

*help me!*

What job do you have, Cloudy? I mean, if you're part of some larger organization, can't you request of some manager above you that they get you some temporary replacements for your coworkers until they can hire permanent ones or at least until the workload subsides? I mean, it's in no way in their interest if you miss your deadlines.

If you're not part of some larger organization, it's just a matter of putting up an ad and using the money no longer getting paid to your coworkers to hire some temporary assistance unless the work is hideously specialized or requires intimate knowledge of the subject matter that isn't easily imparted to a temp.

Nope, Purple, it's all union and state and there are rules and procedures that have to be followed. The first one is that you can't fill a position til it's empty, therefore, nobody can be hired til the incumbent leaves.

So it's going to be less than fun at my office for a while!

Well, I can empathize, last job I had several co-workers and there was still a pile-up when we had as much as a single one of them MIA.

Man, I miss working at the hospital.

Wellard, I will forgive you for that really really really HORRIBLE notion! LOL Besides, she's retired, can't come back full time even if anyone got past laughing if she applied....

Yah, Purple, it's not going to be a 'fun' season for me...but we'll see how well I can survive it- been here a while, I expect I can tough it out again.

Sorry to hear about the van Bungleau...at least you're getting a brand new one!

Cloudy it sounds like you're going to have a busy time at work now...your café duties best be as good as always though *grins*

/rantish

I am skint.
Forking out £165 per 5 weeks for driving lessons, then I need money for Amsterdam, and money to live on, for clothes and trainers...and I still haven't done anything about wanting a guitar! *screams*

That, and since all the part-timers at my shop got their hours cut to 7hr/week (one weekend one weeknight) the money is not as great as it needs to be *growls*

Hi, Attalus Send some of that warm air up here, would you? Even though it was here last week, I miss it again already...

Mack, it's going to be a minivan, a Grand Caravan to be specific. Lots o' bells and whistles that will make my life easier... stow and go seating, built-in DVD player with wireless headphones, heated seats... and probably a lot of stuff I don't care about (yet!).

Picked up the check from the insurance company today, and I'll pick up a van tomorrow...
