Yes, the "kill the mudcrabs" quest is bad, but House Redoran also have some of the best quests in my opinion, namely the ones involving the ash statues. They're pretty cheap when it comes to rewards, though.
Anyway, can someone refresh my memory of something? If you have a Medium shield and successfully block with it, will that increase your Medium Armor skill as well? I didn't pick Endurance as favoured attribute at character generation and I use no skills that depends on Endurance so I'm pretty much stuck at 40 in that stat. Putting one point at every level up is not worth it if there's no multiplier. I ask this because I consider using Medium shield for awhile instead of Light ones to raise my Endurance. I'm just at level 2 at the moment. [ 11-15-2005, 06:43 PM: Message edited by: Stratos ]

I don't know. It seems logical enough, But I don't think so.
My Dumner fighter had a steel heavy shield and medium armor. Heavy armor never raised, so I hope that partially answers your questoin. And yes, Redoran had great quests. Its just a hassle to get past the 'mudcrab' quest. |

![]() Edit: Yes the mudcrab quest sucks; just trying to find those mudcrubs :shudders:. [ 11-16-2005, 06:30 AM: Message edited by: Stratos ]

I got 65 starting Endurance by following Sever's advice. I did not know at the time why he was so proud of that stat; but am starting to understand. I am targeting Endurance for a raise this level: bought 6 advances in Medium armor, even though I don't wear the stuff, just so I can get a good multiplier. I see, now, that only 4 advances count; so I wasted 100 gold for the last 2. Oh, well, such is the price of learning. I hope the 4 advances that do count get me a x3 multiplier. If so, that would be about 150 gold to buy a x3 multiplier: Worth it, IMO. If it works, I intend to do the same trick using Spear. (My starting stats in Spear and in Medium Armor are 5.) Thanks for the multiplier advice, Sever and Stratos. For this last level I got *two* x5 multipliers. Quest help: I am plumbing the depths of the Dwemer ruins just to the north of Fort Moonmoth (sp?) Is the Dwemer tube hard to find, because it is lying on the floor and is hard to see? I have found several hard-to-see items just lying on the floor, and hope the tube isn't going to be one of those things. I'm here to loot, not provide maid service, complete with vaccuum cleaning. Is the stuff that I want, that I haven't found yet (tube and puzzle cube) behind locks? I can't believe I went down there with no lock picks. Ran out in Pelgiad, and forgot to replenish my tools in Balmora before I went out again. Duh!! ~slaps forehead~ A thief with no lock pick. Duh! And, hey, from a roleplaying perspective --> What is the guy's problem on the bridge outside the ruins? He looked to be a common honest laborer, but attacked me like a banshee. Is he an advance guard for the ruins, did he wake up on the wrong side of the bed, or does he have some other reason to attack me? Just wondering, since it surprised me. * * * * * Ah, you must mean Arkhtangtk (sp?). The Dwemer tube should be lying on a shelf, inside a container or something similar, not on the ground. Check for it in one of the rooms with an machine operating in it. Don't forget to take any Dwemer coins you find with you; you can get up to 50 bucks for them but they only weigh 0.1 and are plentiful. I don't remember how many locks there are in this place but I [i]do[/] remember that behind a pair of doors with a 40 or 50 lock is the lower levels of the ruins, and those are filled with more difficult enemies than the lame bandits above. The entrace to these lower levels should be in an area called Heavens Gallery, if I'm not mistaken. You'll actually get a key to these doors when you've delivered the puzzle box. As for the Puzzle Box, that one is a bit tricky to find. When you first enter the ruins you'll find yourself in a large cave with some sort of several-storied building in front of you. The entrace to the room where the puzzle box is is on the second storey of this building. To reach it, make your way to the bottom of this cave and look for some rocks you can use to climb up to the second storey. [ 11-16-2005, 11:05 AM: Message edited by: Stratos ]

Unless, of course, you haven't been careful where you aim your fireball spells in populated areas.

Anyway, so I decided to start a new character (I have the Chronic Restarters Syndrome; might explain why I haven't finished the game yet
![]() Race: Dunmer Gender: Male Class: Tempest Specialization: Stealth Favoured Attributes: Agility and Luck - Agility is very useful for this character and I intend to max out Luck. Birthsign: The Lady - One of my favourite signs. The boost to Endurance and Personality is very useful, especially for players like me who doesn't bother with keeping track of which skills I've increased in to max my multipliers. If I'm not mistaken, my starting stats were: Strength (40), Intelligence (40), Willpower (30), Agility (50), Speed (50), Endurance (65), Personality (55) and Luck (50). I intend to raise Endurance to 70 but have no plans to raise it further. What's the difference in HP per level between an Endurance of 70 and one of 100? For the skills I went completely with what I wanted my character to have as the general character idea; lightning fast martial artist with a few tricks up his sleeves. That means I picked such things as H2H, Unarmored, Athletics and Acrobatics, which in turn means I'll level up very quickly early on in the game. Heck, I reached lv. 4 before I even left Seyda Neen and the surrounding area. ![]() Major: *Hand-to-Hand - Obviously. *Unarmored - Ditto *Mysticism - Fit's the character concept. Besides, it's a useful spell school. *Restoration - The choice was between this and Alteration, but Restoration won out in the end. *Speechcraft - To make use of that Personality. Further, my character is not some kind of asocial brawler. Minor: *Blunt Weapons - For staffs only. I will need them to fight enemies with a very high fatigue, like Centurions, or enemies that requires magickal weapons to harm *Marksman - For throwing stars and knives. I might also consider bound longbows. *Athletics - Fits the character. *Acrobatics - Ditto. *Sneak - Useful for many reason. I have a variety of mods installed but the ones most directly related to this character concept is Aragorns Monk Mod and some Dodge mod I picked up somewhere. The Monk mod mainly change the two pugilist skills; H2H and Unarmored. H2H will now slowly become more powerful the more skill ranks you have in it, but not too powerful. This is important as the Strength stat, of some reason, doesn't determine your unarmored damage and it's damage range is set in stone. You do about four times as much damage with 100 skill ranks in H2H as you normally would. Unarmored is now capped at 90 AR instead of 65 AR. The Dodge mod adds a permanent Sanctuary effect, starting at 25 ranks in Unarmored, and that increases as the skill increases. The max is 50, but any piece of armour lowers this with a certain percentage; the more armour pieces and the heavier, the more it lowers the effect. This makes sure I only equip the bare neccessities of armour to overcome the Unarmored bug, and perhaps something more. I will also increase the difficulty by one every two levels and see how far I'll take that. I might need to run from enemies alot. ![]() [ 11-17-2005, 11:02 AM: Message edited by: Stratos ]
