Larry Silverfall 23/23

He looked down at his own feet, at what could have been a signal of guilt or something of the sort. He looked back up at the duchess with pity in his eyes for her. For he knew that he did not have good news to tell.

"Ma'am. I do not know how to begin my tale, and for fear of what may be coming up those steps after me if my friends and the Inquisitor below have failed urges me to speak plainly and to the point. Forgive me for what may appear as rudeness in my telling of this brief tale.

I lost my wife to a tragic fatality. She is buried in a land to the North, where the elves have her. I plan on travelling there and using two items as components in a spell that I created in a darker time in my life. When I realized that I had created the way to bring back my loved one from the tomb where no cleric could even call her, for she died in a tragic way, I hid this power from even myself until I was ready to use it.

At night, I will go to her burial place. I will set the candle down in front of her tomb...putting her body in the way of the light so that her death casts a shadow. The candle is unique and magical. Although the light burning appears normal, the melting wax is actually releasing a spell that causes the shadow on the wall to be a shadow portal into the world of the dead. The shadow of Mistral, my wife, will find the spirit of the real Mistral wherever she is. Without her body the portal would not know where to open or who to call.

Using the necklace that symblolizes our eternal love for one another as a key, letting the shadow of the necklace fall onto the doorway the doorway will open for Mistral so that she can step through the shadow portal and back into her body where it lies. A simple spell of ressurrection would then rebuild her body's flesh and she will awaken.
"

Larry reached up and wiped a tear from his cheek that was running down.

"So you see...even if you knew where your husband was buried and had an item that symbolized your love together...you would not be able to do anything without a Shadow Candle. Since I no longer know how to make one...I cannot be of any help to you."

Vincent Pathfinder 47/80

Seeing the drow after his announcment and actions halted him get slashed by the skeleton that was advancing towards Marcos Vince started to rethink his moves. Seeing the mirrored image of the fallen mage roll a couple paces to the left but still being on the ground he thought he would bring some visability to the otherwise invisable mage. Slowly reaching into a pouch he pulled out his familiar leather duster. this time though he unscrewed the top of it and squeezed the magical dust into the air. A fine golden powder spread across room, passing through the mirrored images and settling on all things solid.

ooc: up to the gm to decided if it does highlight those invisable or not.

Andrion Wilgor 28/40

He stood up from his roll on the ground and saw that the skeleton was taken his orders to the letter. But Andrion did not have time to give it new orders. He turned and saw the one, who had previously fired the arrow at him. He was spreading some powder in the room, no doubt so as to be able to see Andrion.

Turning at Vincent Andrion cast a spell at him.

"Orbus Chromaticus!" - he half-whispered, half-spoke.

OOC: couldn't find the latin name for the spell on the site you gave me Cyril. Spell is chromatic orb. Edited to show the spell name. Thanks Morg and Legolas!

Morguerat 115/115

The large man felt moved, He'd known that Larry had delved deeply into forbidden magics, and become corrupted by a lust for teh control over life and death a moderator possesses. Was he that different then from a paladin who had fallen, lost everything, and searched for any way to restore his honor... The difference was one of scope he decided at length, for corrupting onesself further in order to absolve onesself of a misdeed was simply going the opposite route from where he should have.

A single tear fell unbidden from the large warrior's eye, rolled down his gruff face, and was quickly lost in the thick beard. A hand, calloused from years of hard living rested upon Larry's shoulder, the suprisingly gentle squeeze was the only other reaction Morguerat gave.

Silt 80/80

Silt couldn't belive it as Kynnen ran straight for Marcos, even the elf with his lightning fast reactions couldn't do anything about it. The situation was looking dire. Andrion looked to be casting yet another spell, and at present Kynnen would let noone do anything.

Luck always found a way to make things possible however. And luck seemed to be on the defenders side, for as Silt contemplated what to do in the current disastrous playing field, he was greeted with a window of opportunity. The cunning Andrion wasn't as cunning as his spells would suggest. For he had made a mistake. Ordering a Skeleton Warrior to strike the nearest didn't seem like the wisest decision, Silt noted.

For the skeleton struck Kynnen; the one who was nearest. And at that precise moment Silt acted. Years of training had helped him perfect his weight distribution, and in fine tune with his body, the elf pushed all of his muscle forward, and leapt with it, putting himself directly to the side of the Drow, and to the side of Marcos. The momentum sent him crashing into the Drow, as he had expected, and he forced his short sword forward with this, activating Faerie Fire at the same time. Hoping for the life of him that Silt had done as he had been taught many years ago, and pushed the Drow away from Marcos, with his blade, he swept his longsword round in an arc and brought it down, trying to strike at the Drow's shoulder.

Edit:For signature.

Kynnen 57/85

Kynnen felt something tearing through his back. He turned his head to see the huge skeleton raising his rusted blade to strike again. "Andrion! Leash this elghkhel" he shouted, and turned back only to see his enemy crashing into him. For a moment, he let go of his hostage, but falling down, he tried to grapple on to his hostage again, not to lose his protection. If he even for a moment sensed himself losing his footing, the halberd would surely come down at Marcos.

OOC: elghkhel is Drow for skeleton. And since Ross used a combat manouver, I'm entitled to a Concentration check to see if I still hold Marcos, right?

Plaxica 31/85

In human form his sense of smell and hearing were not as good as in owl form, yet he had known exactly where Andrion had been. He prepared to throw the net at the mage, when suddenly he sneezed. He looked at his hand and saw some golden powder on it. And then through two of his fingers he saw it. Andrion, whose shimmering figure was partially visible due to just finishing the casting of a spell and the particles of dust hitting the invisibility on him. The mage had just finished casting a spell, but the time was perfect. Plaxica paused for half a second, aiming and then threw the net at Andrion.

1. Gauging by the movements played out since being stunned, 1 round has been counted out...and that leaves two more for Marcos to be stunned.

2. Chromatic Orb is being cast by Andrion at Vincent, who had just thrown dust into the air in order to spy out the hiding mage. While this spell is being provoked, the two images of Andrion left on the field, blurry and moving about, begin to mimic his movements as he casts. A slight whisper of a voice is heard in the area where the images dance and silently pantamime their owner.

Chromatic Orb is cast.
Roll(2d8):
4,3,
Total:7

Vincent, while standing there trying to find the mage in the room sees a ball of magic come hurling toward him, much to fast for him to react against. He can no longer move, but the pain still shakes his body for the magical damage.

Vincent: Stunned for 1 round and has suffered 7hp damage.

3. Silt vs. Kynnen:
Silt successfully knocked Kynnen backwards, but Kynnen was able to hold onto his hostage, but lost hold of his Halberd in the tackle. The dead weight of Marcos tipped over pulling Kynnen to the ground with the stunned Inquisitor. Silt had swung to strike the drow in the shoulder, but missed as Kynnen was not there to receive the blow when he fell.

4. Plaxica and Andrion:
Plaxica was able to see the shimmer and guess at the location of the mage. He threw the net, and it sailed through the air with a lazy and awkward balance, falling onto an image of the mage, and settling to the ground. For a moment, the observer would have thought that nothing had been caught...and would have been expected since throwing a net would take some practice. However, besides the fact that now there was only one image...that one image told the observer the truth. The mirrored image appeared to be frustrated and lying low to the ground. Unless the mage was trying to use his remaining image as a trick to fool the allies...they had indeed covered him with the net, slowing him down from making more attacks.

Vincent Pathfinder 40/80

with an inner growl of frustration he watched the colorful orb fly at him from the invisable mage. The globe stunned him, he could not move and was left defensless. Damnit, what kind of invisability is this that lets you do so many attacks without coming undone, curse that lowly scum sucking pig, I will have his entrails sewn into a garmet by the time I'm done with him. watching as a quick fight between Silt and the drow unfolded he could only laugh as the drow dropped his weapon and pulled Marcos on top of himself in the process. The he saw Plaxica toss the net and it did what it was supposed to do. You could almost see the smirk in Vincent's eye's when he saw the entrapped mage in his mirrored images.

Banewolves

In hunger they come, eyeless sockets filled with the black of the hatred borne by the grave toward all that lives. In hunger they come and in hatred they arrive, one from the north, another from the south, a third from the east and a final appearing from the west, to join that one whose slaughter of the horse meant for the woman has released the warm blood of the living into the cool air of evening. Five, there are, a pack of the dead, and each of these, the already dead is dead with the collective death of many, and their growling is a growling as of five packs, and their hunger, hungering after flesh, is mighty for it is the hungering of many. In hunger they have come for the grave hungers without ceasing, seeking ever to swallow the living, swallowing always and yet never sated.

Flight is not possible, not merely because all avenues of escape are blocked, but because sight has begun to fail in elven eyes, and hearing grows numb in elven ears and the exhalation of the grave begins to fill elven lungs. Banewolves are these and they have scented the blood of the dragon in the body of an elf. Terrible are the wolves, for they bear the fierce and unrelenting monotony of the grave in their bodies and their growling. The monotone of their growls is effective over even the heart of a dragon, however hidden that heart might be, and as a mighty heart hidden behind elven ribs grows numb, great jaws open wider, and lifeless muscles tense.

Sight fails.

Hearing fails.

Movement fails.

But feeling remains and what is felt are teeth. Teeth that tear. Teeth that carry the numbness of the grave into the limbs and bones they seize. A bracelet falls off a destroyed wrist and a change of form sluggishly proceeds and the hot blood of a dragon adds its bitter warmth to evening’s cool. Soon even the feeling of teeth is gone, but the tearing continues, as does the sinking of blood into the ground. Hatred feasts well this night and a mighty protagonist disappears from this tale, a great stain of blood over one of the ley lines his mission was to protect the only sign that betokens what has happened here.

Banewolves are these. Great has been their feasting, but their hunger remains unsatisfied.

ooc: Arcades the dragon is no more.
