Alaerth spun his sword and went into a crouch, "Come to me fiend! Come to your death!" When it got nearer, he launched himself at the thing...only to be knocked aside by Alae,
"Are you stupid! That thing will tear you apart! Where is Alliene!" Alaerth was too enraged to answer, and jumped immediatley back to his feet, rushing the demon again, but this time with Alae safely gaurding him. The dragon's question of Alliene was answered when the demon suddenly roared in pain and spun around, taking a swing at the drow who had been mericlessly slashing at its backside. Alliene danced back from the fiend's arms, giving time for Alaerth and Alae to tear into its flesh with their mother's swords. The confused fiend spun around again and shot all 8 arms towards Alaerth, two of them striking him, while he and his sister sliced one off each, Alaerth's berserk laughter echoing down the halls. The demon looked confused again, and immediatley withdrew from the twins and stumbled back. Alae sensed magic upon her, and guessed that Alliene had cast a protection spell on them. The demon tried to withdraw franticly as Alaerth tore into it while Alliene focused on finishing her planar summoning spell. A figure came through...but it wasn't a planetar, as Alliene expected...it was some kind of humanoid, and at the moment, useless, so without hesiatation, Alliene launched Disintegrate at the demon, and it collapsed into a pile of sand. The flame left the twins eyes, and Alaerth winced in pain as he realized the fiend had tore a deep gouge in his arm. Alliene's attention was now on the humanoid...one hand on Nizzre, "What manner of being are you that has replaced the Planetar I was to summon? Speak!" She demanded of it. ooc-Time for DK to introduce himself [ 09-12-2003, 11:36 PM: Message edited by: Lady Blue03 ] |

The balding grey-skinned figure looked up with eyes that seemed to absorb light itself. He then spoke in a thick accent but with near perfect pronunciation:
"Sorry 'bout that... The Planetar's are a little low in stock so the summons were redirected toward me... Hi... I'm Gus! Mage and citizen of the vacuum plane of nothingess!" ![]() [ 09-13-2003, 10:53 PM: Message edited by: /)eathKiller ] |

Alliene frowned. Low in stock? Was that possible? Alae and Alaerth were giving the void mage odd looks, and Alaerth hefted his sword and raised an eyebrow in question. Alliene shhok her head and said,
"Alae, summon the guards and go through the castle to find the wounded. Alaerth, go to Sylquis and get your arm fixed, it looks rather nasty." The twins nodded, and Alae trotted down a corridor to her left, while Alaerth, after gingerly putting his sword away, made his way back to Alae's chambers, where Sykquis and Arlyth waited. Alliene turned her attention back to the mage, "While I find it odd that a planetar was unable to come...it is of little matter now, the demon is destroyed. You may return to your home plane now." |

"Um... Well Y'see... That's another little problem..." the genasi replied rubbing the back of his head. "You see I wasn't really summoned on a temporary basis... rather, I sort of decided to stay in this plain rather than go back... I'm kind of looking for work and was hoping you'd be in the need of my assistance..." he smiled and batted his odly colored eyes with a pouty expression...

As Arlaerth made his way back to Sylquis; in his sister's chambers, he encountered little resistance. Opening the door, he heard Sylquis sigh in relief to see him, then a short gasp. Softly, she spoke, "Alaerth! Your injured." the Cleric's comment wasn't a question; but a statement, and Alaerth realised that he might be in for a stern lecture. "Is it bad?" she asked. When Alaerth looked around the room, he could see that his young cousin, Arlyth was seated in Sylquis's arms; his head upon her breast, resting peacefully. The boy's aunt held him gently, rocking him every so often. Sylquis set him down, with infinate care, her touch tender. Alaerth could see that she loved her nephew very much. The cleric turned to address the young prince, beckoning him in. Leading him away from the sleeping child, she took his arm in her hands, and examined it. "Not too bad, it could be a lot worst. Your very lucky it wasn't mangled or something equally nasty." she said, looking up into Alaerth's eyes, her tone soft, but stern. "Try to be more careful dear, please?" the cleric chidded softly, "I'm not going to tell you how important you are to the kingdom; because I don't have to; you already know that. But I don't like to see you getting hurt," she reached up and touched his cheek, caressing it gently, reminding the prince of an fond elder sister. Sylquis whispered a few words, and Alaerth gasped as he felt an icy chill wash over and go through him, cleasing him; when it had passed, he felt totally refreshed as if he'd just had a good night's rest; and completely healed. Sylquis embraced him briefly and released him, "Feeling somewhat better now, I hope?" she asked, her smile genuinely warm. Arlyth never stirred.

Yes Sylquis, thank you." Alaerth replied with relief, giving his arm an experimental shake. He looked at her, a litte abashed, "And you know I can't help myself...I didn't even notice until after the fiend was dead...which reminds me, Aunt Alliene tried to summon a planetar, but instead some kind of vacuum mage came...it's really quite odd."
Alliene glared at the mage "What do you mean you can't leave?" She shook her head, "Permanent residence!" The drow sighed and studied guess less intently "I have no need of your skills. But perhaps the prince might. Follow me." She led Gus to Alae's chamber, where Alaerth and Sylquis were. |

As Alliene, in her usual disregard-for-others-self walked into Alae's chambers, and caused her usual racket, Arlyth woke up from his peaceful slumber, and sat up on the bed, rubbing his eyes. Softly he asked "...Is something the matter?" it was a general question, and not directed at anyone in particular. Sylquis answered. "Yes, just exactly what is this about, Alliene?" she asked, none to please that the Drow had awoke her sleeping nephew; still, as always, her tone was respectful. She turned back to Alaerth and told him, "Yes dear, I do know; but that still doesn't stop me from asking you to be careful, in the hopes that one day it'll sink through." she gave him a pointed look, which clearly told him that he was dismissed. She turned around to address Alliene again. "I trust that you were not wounded, Matron?"

Alliene waved her hand dismissivley,
"The fiend did not harm me. This is the concern." She dragged Gus in front of her, "This void mage came in place of the planetar I tried to summon, and apparently he can't go back. I was thinking he could accompany the twins when they leave. When I go back to the Underdark, they will need a mage with them." |

"Hmm. Perhaps. Could you not open up a portal and send him back, Alliene? I know that I could, and as far as I know, mages with as much power as yourself should have no problem at all. But yes, there is the issue of your return. I doubt my nephew's skills here will be up to the task." giving Alliene a long look, she continued, "He has the innate magic of a sorcerer, but is still young and unexperienced. I'm sure you saw the four he slew." she sighed, "And there is the fact of bringing him along." Looking at Alliene, she waved her hands and guestured. Time froze. Everyone was as still as a statue, save for Alliene. "Matron, is he trustworthy?" she asked, her tone soft. "The spell will last a while, and there are things we should discuss."

Alliene shifted her weight to one foot and placed a hand on her hip,
"I detected no evil about him, and I don't know why I would, for I did not summon from the lower planes. He requested a job, so he might as well assist the twins. They have several ways to handle him if he causes trouble." |
