To Walk a Dragon's Path, Chapter 1-A Thorny Road(closed ATM)

Zachana dropped her eyes to the ground. A knot was twisting in her stomach. With a sigh, she firmed her resolve and looked Shadow in the eye,
"I have been keeping something from you, for your own protection as well as mine. I do not wish to explain this to you, so I will simply show you," she stood straight in front of Shadow and let her clothing vanish and turn to her shining black scales. Her raved hair wavered and formed the fin the started from her now long sinewy to the tip of her forming tail. Horns sprouted from her forehead and jaw as her face stretched to take the form of her natural being. Soon, a man sized black dragon sat in front of Shadow. She held his eyes with her own black orbs and said nothing, only waiting.

Skye saw the other elf, about the same age as her and Cal. She hung back uncertainly, unsure whether she should intrude. Skye couldn't help but feel a slight pang of jealousy for the pretty elven girl, but quickly brushed it off. Knocking on the doorframe timidly she said "I hope I'm not intruding... I just wanted to help Sylquis..." She looked at the other elf uncertainly.

Shadow just looks at kai in shock... "You mean... you... a dragon..."
Shadow looks pale and leans against the wall. He trembles a bit thinking of all the tales he has heard about dragons hunting down people who have stolen from their treasure.

He is about to run when he realises that it is the dragon that Alliene always has with her and he breathes out slowly, trying to figure out what to do.

[Calaethis Dragonsbane]

Tyra curtsied to Skye, and simply guestered for her to come in and close the door. In a shy voice, she replied, "No, not at all, please, come in. I'm Tyratria Ilanisala, or Tyra for short. It'd be nice to have some help, we're going I take it? I've already packed a few of my things." She held out Sylquis's traveling cloak with its whitefur-lined insulation to keep her warm. She donned one herself, and gathered up there travel bags. "Almost done here." she said cheerfully.

"A kinder deity..." Alliene breathed, and a tear almost squeezed out of her eye, "Calaethis...wait," tears did not fall from her eyes, but they looked sad no matter what she tried to do to mask it, "I should be the one apologizing..." she hated talking to his back, to anyone's back. She stepped forward and laid a hand gently on his shoulder, "I am so sorry, I did not mean to push you away, to make you doubt and hurt, but...you do not know what it is like to be drow. A war like that when you lose part of your life changes you so...but Shar has told me my anger is not needed, and I will not keep it, for Her sake and yours. Forgive me cousin," she squeezed his shoulder.

Zachana quickly resumed her human form and gripped Shadow's arm,
"Do not fear me!" Thinking quick, she loosened her grip on his arm and tried to figure out what to say, "I will not hurt you Shadow, and I enjoy the time I spend with you very much," she took a thoughtful breath, "Kaishin'azunwith is my true draconic name, so I have not lied outright to you," she bit her lip as that last bit came out, "If you would please...continue your time spent with me, I would be most greatful," she hoped she did not scare him away; he looked ready to bolt.

Shadow still looks a bit pale, "Well I guess as long as you dont plan to eat me we can get some breakfast. I will try to calm myself down."

Immediatly his mind is racing with thoughts, is this a good thing? Could having a dragon nearby would have its uses. As long as the thieves at the local guild didnt find out about him sleeping with a dragon, that would ruin his reputation.

Skye smiled and stepped into the room. "Doesn't look like you need my assistance," she said with a grin. "Oh,and my name's Skye. Nice to meet you Tyra. I take it you two are siblings..?" she mused absentmindedly, looking about at the furnishings and checking their travel bags. Spying a door, she walked over to it and turned the handle. "Where does this lead to?" she asked, opening it and sticking her head in curiously.

[Calaethis Dragonsbane]

Wordlessly Calaethis turned around and embraced his cousin. His head lay on her shoulder, her hair covering his face and tears. His body shook with silent sobs, and Alliene could feel each jolt. He refused to look into her eyes, but held her tightly. Eventually, after what seemed like an age had passed, he looked up at her face, and gently, with two forefingers, he touched her cheek, he brushed away the tear that she couldn't shed, and gazed endlessly into her eyes. Words weren't needed. Alliene could feel all of his love and pain searing into her soul. After another age had passed, he released her, and stepped back, before he bowed his head, and fell to his knees in front of her. "C-cou" he couldn't finish his sentace - his throat was so dry he could speak, no matter how hard he tried. It emerged as a croak, and he hugged her legs tears pouring from his eyes. Alliene could see how deeply he felt for her, and even though he couldn't speak she could see her loved her more deeply then ever. He rose to his feet, bowed his head again, and kissed her on the cheek. He so rarely kissed her that it came as a shock. He left silently, wiping his eyes on the way out. He walked across the hall to his room, and he opened the door...

Tyra smiled and replied, "Oh, that, thats the door to Lord Calaethis's room... I feel safer having him next to us, and I'm sure he feels better where he can keep an eye on us as well. I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you wanted to check to see he'd left nothing behind..."

"Erm, you sure he wouldn't mind?" Skye asked a little nervously, after getting over her initial shock. Recieving encouraging nods from Tyra, she walked into the room and peered around in the corners, making sure that nothing had been accidentally stashed into the shadows. "Hmm, if I was something that wanted to get misplaced, where would I be..." she mused aloud, opening and closing an empty drawer.

Tyra stepped in and said "I need to close this door for just a minute, some of my things are behind it." Nodding her okay to Tyra, Skye stood in the middle of the room. "I know! The oldest place in the book!" she cried, and launching herself at the bed, looked down between the bed and the wall. "Aha!" she said triumphantly, her eye catching sight of something gleaming underneath.

Reaching down, she pulled up a small gem. "Aww, this was probably left by some earlier inhabitant," she complained, and rolling over proceeded to get up off the bed. "Yoowww!" she exclaimed, reaching back at her braid. It had become effectively hooked into a spring in the bed, most likely when she had been picking up the small gem.

Falling backwards onto the bed, Skye sighed to herself. "Well, this is rather awkward," she said aloud. "I wish they'd hurry up and open the door already, I can't really reach the spring myself..." she placed her hands behind her head and stared up at the ceiling, whistling softly and twitching her foot to the beat.

ooc-Skye are you controlling Tyra now?

Zachana looked sternly at Shadow but took his hand again with a squeeze, "Just don't anger me, or I will eat you," she winked and grinned to show she was joking, "You know, you are the last person in our party to realize that I'm actually Zachana," her grinned broadened and she laughed merrily, giving him a reassuring kiss on his cheek, "Plus, now when we travel in the wilderness, I can be with you. Help keep you warm and all that," with an amused sigh she found the tavern girl and ordered hefty amounts of bread, cheese, and their best wine. Zachcana indicated that they could eat in his room, since the furniture in the tavern was...broken, to say the least.
