I like hobbit-ish halflings
![]() ![]() Female druids sound nice (kind of like PETA girls?)... Make sure you give those gnomes really big gnoses! ![]()

I think I'll probably go the hobbitish route.
![]() ![]() Mmmmm, pita bread. ![]() Gnomes with big noses, big ears and small chins. shorter than dwarves, but with the same armspan. Skinny little buggers that can slip away into the shadows. ![]() |

The same armspan?! Gee, gnomes must be pretty wide, since dwarves are pretty wide already, too!

There not wide, they just have longer arms.
![]() I recall reading somewhere an article about the different body types in AD&D. Compared to typical human ratios, dwarves' arms were only 85 to 90% as long, halfings were 90 to 95%, elves were at 100 to 105% and gnomes were 105 to 110% So...if a typical 6 foot tall human has a 6 foot armspan, a typical 4 foot tall dwarf would have a 3'6" to 3'9" armspan and so would a typical 3 foot tall gnome. Or as Lisa Simpson said, "Like, you know....whatever." ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Really? Do you remember the source to that? (The various companies who owned D&D changed things from time to time, I think...)
I guess it would sort of make sense, but dwarves would have really stubby arms as a result...

I don't recall off the top of my head, but I will try and find it this weekend.
I've never really thought about how it must be for them, as it would be like my arms being 3 to 5 inches shorter (each). I could still function, but I wouldn't be able to reach a lot of things. I'll think about this tonight. ![]() |

Ha ha - you're right, I've never seen an obese elf, either!
(For fun, maybe I will create a new spell for my AD&D campaign (Level 3: Obesity) to use against elves...)

You should check out Craigslist. You can pretty regularly find pentium 4 desktops running at 1 ghz with decent hard drives and ram for under $50 (or at least you can in Portland).
I never bothered to read the manual, and have only used it as a reference work. ![]() |

I haven't been working on gnomes or halflings, but I did finish the icon for #10. Since I'm keeping all of the new icons under wraps for now, I guess I'd better show you something else.
For your viewing pleasure, I present to you #9, #11 and #12. |
