If you watch the replay of Japans goal it was a clear foul. But Australia kept there composure and showed some great skill. We deserved our win and frankly we deserved to win by more.

Some of Australia's fouls in the first ten mins were very scary, I think we were lucky not to be a man down, The ref was poor IMO

Their keeper pulled off some great saves Aloisi and Viduka's free kicks, but went a bit crazy on Cahill's first. Leaping so far from his goal like that against 6 foot something strikers. What did he expect?

BRING ON BRAZIL!!!
Let me try to point this out to you...

* Takahara was standing with his back towards Schwarzer and couldn't see from where he was coming or whatever action he was going to take.
* Schwarzer had only eyes for the ball and not for the situation in front of him.
* Schwarzer bumped into Takahara, and not the other way around, knocking himself out of balance, Schwarzer can only blame himself for that action.

Therefore there's nothing dubious about the goal, it would have been dubious if the goal had been disallowed. If you wouldn't have been watching the game a a pair of yellow/green glasses on, you'd probably see more clearly.

Of course i cannot ask such a thing from you, so i can feel your pain. But no harm done, Australia got the win, and Schwarzer is forgiven i guess. Good thinking of Guus too i suppose, Cahill and Aloisi came into the match when Japan started to look exhausted, typical Hiddink move.

On first view on TV I might have agreed with you Johnny - but several slow motions and stills show me that the forward stepped back with the leg and across with the arm clearly impeding. I call the goal dubious (not blatatant) because not all angles can be seen by a ref - things get missed and it wasn't a clear cut foul.

But my view remains that it was a foul and the goal was dubious

2-0 to the Czech's. They are showing the USA up on the counter. Tearing the defense to pieces IMO.

Strange...the Americans have more possession but do a lot less with it.

Blowout for Koller, they're gonna miss him if his knee is messed up again.

Wellard, see what i mean ? See the difference in quality, in wits ? The Czechs give the Americans the impression that they're in the game, by letting them have possession most of the half, only to accelerate at certain moments and deliver a knockout with a perfect counterattack, this is their favourite way of playing the game, and there's no team better at it than they are. For some reason, coach Bruckner didn't even think it was necessary to field his best attacker, Milan Baros, and i know he's not injured, so this must be some tactical move, although i don't quite understand it.

If this team gets on a roll, there's noone that can stop them, they are a serious contender for the title, that is if everyone stays healthy.
