Don't forget you'll have to buy a new monitor one of these days as well.

Actually if you compare the two countries from beginning to present..ummm the US comes up with fewer masacres of its own people than does China...which really isnt fair to China since it has been around soooo much longer..so lets just compare the last 200 years...oops China looses out again by a couple of million again....So comparativly I say the US has the moral high ground on the issue. Not to say the US totally innocent, HOWEVER comma! It is the USA that has been one of the MAJOR champions for human rights, China is still a nation that represses its own people to a far greater degree than does the US or any Western European nation. (not many western comparisons to Tienamin Square in the last 100 years). I realize that a lot of people on here hate to admit anything good about America but We are not in the habit of sending out tanks to run over our students, and in most cases those students can protest and parade their opposition to government policy all they want as long as they don't pose a danger to others or commit vandalism.

So I guess in summation. Sorry to be so "typical" but the truth might hurt some times.

We can't visit China?! When did this happen? Or is it just you?
LOL Not YOU Moni ME IM special Something to do with things I worked on once upon a time. Not allowed to go to China, any of the countries listed in the recent Axis of Evil speech and Most of what used to be the USSR. Every once in a while I get a polite reminder in the mail to clear overseas travel with the Uncle

Oh and this isnt just to curtail my rights as an American, it is as much for my own protection...you see there are some people who might be wanted just on GP for things that happened 20 years ago..China is notorious for "detaining" the spouses of people they disapprove of while they are in country visiting reletives...despite KT's protests about how nice China is to its people.

MagiK,
Glad its you and not me! It must suck for your government to have so much control over you, supressing your very freedom to visit a country it thinks is evil!

Hehe all I did was fix computers However Im sure that the Lady School Teacher from Reston Virginia who was visiting her reletives had no idea that she would be known and detained just for something her husband may have worked on.(she is still there and it has been a couple of years now ) Seriously though Since all the programs I worked on are now obsolete I can't seriously believe anyone would want me for "questioning" its not like I was some high level mucky muck..I were just a goat in the trenches Oh and I worked the West Pac, Med and Lant theatres so It is conceivable that my name is on some antiquated list somewhere.
The truth certainly can hurt at times. And there are more than a few truths about America which just don't make her look too good either. An estimate of 3 million civilians got killed by American carpet-bombing in North Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia during the Vietnam War. And at the end of the Gulf War, American forces buried alive 150,000 conscripts who had already surrendered and were therefore no longer a threat. Okay, America might not kill her own people (actually there are a few rumors that suggest otherwise), but she kills people all the same.

No hard feelings, please.
