Try lowering taxes. It helps quite a bit
Thanks, i might give that a try, i've never done that before. They revolt en masse now, even if i have 3 or 4 armies in that province. They simply bring along one army more than i have stationed in that province. They're fairly easy beaten, but numbers of my troops decrease drastically too. And one year later they're back again.

Yeah, that's very irritating. I had pretty much the same thing. Being attacked in Portugal because of conflicting religions. Luckily, lowering taxes solved that one, for I was tempted to simpely pull out.
Anyway, in my current (first) game, the 'Horde' just started it's invasion. Which is definately going to work out for me. Since I'm playing the Egyptians, I control nations in the south, south/west (Spain, parts of France) and South/East (already defeated the Turkish Sultan). Meaning: they'll probably have to cut through most of my opponents to get to me In the meanwhile, I've been trying to get spies into Eastern Europe for a risk assesement, but they keep getting eliminated. I wonder how many troops they've brought along.

Send out emmissaries, there's a chance you find rebel provinces in all four corners of the map. They're easily bribed, and you'd have a foothold right in enemy territory.

the bad part about being an islamic nation is that most of the rebel provinces are of a different religion... Ive made like 50+ alims and about 7 Imams that go around in masses right in front of my armies, bringing the Islamic religion to 60%+ before I attack with my armies. This works well, because it gives me time to set up the conquered provinces with the basic defenses(btw, has anyone noticed the passiveness of the enemies. Im playing on normal, and only the english are attacking me, besides the few pathetic crusades they send my way every now and then). My troops are pouring in to the western europe, and I have plenty to keep the Byzantines/Horde in check, if they decide to come my way in the east. Ive even tried allying with the horde, but with no success...

The Horde has around 15000 troops with them(I counted, but theres a chance some of them were elsewhere), so if they decide to attack, youre pretty much screwed...But I think youre safe for now, as they havent attacked me yet(Im playing the Egyptians) after like 20 turns...They have a most peculiar war tactic, as they jump from province to province, leaving virtually no defences, so they just conquer, lose and reconquer the Novogord provinces .

The Horde got it's ass kicked big time by the Byzantians. My neighbours. I decided to take advantage of that by invading their lands. Huge mistake. The Byzantians had the largest army/income for most of the game. And although both titels now belong to me, they are still extremly tough. Another problem is the fact that they have sea supperiority. Meaning: they can attack pretty much every undefended province of my realm. I've just conquered Constantinopel and Greece (at an incredible cost of troops/money). But now, all my former allies have declared war on me! Although I'm winning in the Middle East, I'm getting my ass handed to me in Western Europe because I have to defend a huge border. I'm also facing uprisings in Portugal. It's almost like the Roman empire

I hear you Dreamer! Apparently I didnt have enough troops to keep the Byzantines in check...somehow I got engaged in war with them as well, the Italians have taken sea superiority from me with the help of those english caravels and Im losing provinces at a rate I can hardly believe! Ive had to pull my troops out of the former France just to be able to hold spain, and then train insane numbers of Saracen Infantry to hold the middle east...not going well at all

You're still playing with the Egyptians, Raistlin? Because you have pretty much the same problems I am facing. Luckily, I've managed to take over the largest Byzantian provinces. I'm also doing a good job keeping Germany (largest power in that area) at bay in Western Europe. Unfortunately, an extremly large Eastern European faction has now declared war on me. They seem to be able to move troops to any of my provinces without the use of ships. These guys are really giving me a hard time.

Crush them ruthlessly! My last game was using the Saracens and the pope was always a pain in the rear. We played "swap the province" too many times to be funny.
