Calaethis smiled grimly. Has this been real, she would already have been dead... blades were not the only weapon in his arsenal - fireshield and sunfire he would have activated, and thats if sunray did not blind the enemy. Silently Calaethis berated Tagnik, 'You saw that coming, why did you not warn me?' Tagnik's reply was to the point, << it was time for this mockery to end - besides - she was distracted, had you looked, you would have seen this. Better to have let her beat you, then to prolong this - now she has underestimated you - and when the time comes next, you will have an advantage... >> Calaethis was shocked, 'But shes not the enemy! She even called me "cousin"' The sword smiled, and said nothing. Calaethis merged with the shadows, dissapearing from sight, and Verloren could his the soft, almost silent padding of running feet as he passed her. He tapped her shoulder, and whispered in her ear - "I'm sorry about your floor, cousin, really I am - forgive me?"

edit - now to do Tyra: - oh btw, - Sylquis is sleeping LHELs - not gone to find Verloren... - AND the bathroom doesnt have a major exit - you'd have to have gone via the "living room" Khalraan...

Tyra's hand snaked out and grabbed Khalraan's ear, biting back a cry of pain, hee winced, and struggled. Tyra spoke in a voice like ice - "Come with me - and if you make one sound, just one I'll drag you over to Lady Alliene, and I have no doubt she will thrash you quite soundly." She propelled the boy forward with a slap to his rump, her other hand releasing his ear and taking hold of the scruff of his neck...

Dragging Khalraan into a empty, nearby storage closet, she locked the door and turned to face him. Her eyes were ice. "So, you were spying on my sister? How much did you see?" Having taken the child by his chin, her eyes bored into him. Speaking in a dangerously soft tone, she asked, "...and what do you think Skye, or perhaps, Calaethis would say if they found out about this? Calaethis would almost certainly take something to you, even if Alliene didn't. You know how protective of Sylquis he is, don't you?" the boy whimpered. "You have a choice, Khalraan - spying on my sister - is not something that will go unpunished. Either I punish you here and now - and you make no complaints - and we forget about this ever happening - and Calaethis and the others do not find out about it - Or we'll go and find Calaethis, Alliene, and Skye, and see what they have to say. Well?" Tyra's voice suggested the latter would be the worst choice, but her tone was ice.

Verloren's shoulder rippled in a shrug and she stepped to the side, lifting a tapestry to one of the secret passages. She moved in and located the one that led up towards her sisters rooms. After a few moments of walking up a drafty stone ramp, she opened a door that was tactfully hidden under a tapestry in her sister's room. She almost squealed when she noticed a paralyzed drow boy on the ground, but she darted by him and slipped into the bathroom, closing and locking the door behind her; she wanted a few private moments before Calaethis came, or she'd never get them. She turned, and was taken by surprise. Zachana was floating in the water in her natural form, as she had suspected, and beside her was Alliene. Verloren stared for a moment...Alliene looked so content relaxing in that pool, yet her skin was as dark as night, like the drow she had seen outside,
"Sister, I am glad to see you back but...what happened to your skin?"
Alliene turned and smiled, the warmth in it not touching her steel eyes, "Good to see you as well, Verloren. Have I got a story to tell you..."
Verloren shook her had in wonder as Alliene finished her tale, "You are very blessed, sister," she breathed.
Alliene nodded soberly and gave her a queer look, "Tell me, sister...did you drink that potion I made for you?"
Verloren blushed despite herself, "I did, and it worked,"
Alliene grinned, "Wonderful. By Shar, look at you, all drenched in sweat. Join me?"
Verloren chuckled and hung her robe on a peg before sliding into the steaming water.

Shadow wakes and notices that Kai has gone. After throwing on some expensive clothing he strolls into the kitchen and grabs a chunk of cheese to munch on.

Zachana rolled oven under the water as Alliene stroked her scales and blew happy bubbles to the surface. She had left Shadow lying in an exhausted heap in his room, but she knew that wouldn't last. Her claws clicked on the smooth gray marble as she pulled herself out, shaking her wings dry. Hovering, she flew to the door and unlatched it, letting herself out. A quick stop by Shadow's apartments confirmed her thoughts, so she picked out his trail with her sharp nose and followed it down the kitchens. She saw him dressed in finery and munching a piece of cheese. Hissing to herself, she landed atop his head and stretched her neck down, nipping the cheese right out of his hand. She instantly spat it out and almost tagged one of the scullions. It was ok in human form, but she couldn't tolerate it in natural form. Sighing, Zachana slid off the top of his head and onto his shoulder, growling playfuly at him.

His heart beating at an alarming rate Shadow tries to breathe normally. No matter how many times it happens a dragon landing on his shoulder still makes him jumpy. "I was eating that I will have you know." He tries to look stern but can't help grinning.

Calaethis reached his rooms, and opened the door. He stared in surprise at the drow on the floor; his eyes began to swirl again - they'd only just stopped. Walking over to it, he prodded him in the stomach/ribs with a toe, and asked in drow "Xunus l'ilharess sila dosst xa'huuli veldri ghil, ilythiiri?" he paused, "l'ilharess Alliene?" He waited for an answer, before walking to the bathroom, he knocked, and entered, "Alliene? Where are you? Oh your- Your skin!" he exclaimed startled...

Translations:
Xunus l'ilharess sila dosst xa'huuli veldri ghil, ilythiiri?
Did the matron bring your worthless hide here drow.
l'ilharess Alliene?
The Matron Alliene?

Zachana bared her fangs in distaste,
"Cheese? Cheese is vile. Old stirred up milk left to rot in a cellar until it achieves the ultimate age in vileness," she noticed the cook scowling at her and snorted in amusement, "Oh my, hope I didn't offend him," she hopped from Shadow's shoulder and soared to the table, landing next to left over steak that had been dinner a few hours ago. She ate half of it and picked up an empty wine glass in her claws. She changed to her human form dressed in her favorite silver coat and black breeches, grinning up at Shadow as she called for wine. She filled up the glass after it came and held it out to Shadow, a mischievous glint in her black pools of eyes. She wasn't done playing yet.

Verloren jumped at Calaethis's voice and muttered to Alliene in sea-elf that she should make sure the dragon locked the door on her way out next time. Alliene just winked and looked at Calaethis,
"Hello, cousin. My skin...is a long story which I've no taste for explaining all over again," she giggled as Verloren sank to her chin in the water, "I heard you talking to the drow outside. Try not to touch him, he attacked me outside the temple and I havn't had a chance to question him yet," Alliene yawned behind her hand.

Shadow looks down at the cheese sitting on the ground, "Gee, thanks for telling me that... I doubt I will ever be able to eat cheese again..."
Shadow reaches out and takes the wine. After taking a deep sip he looks at Kai, "Where did you take off to?"

Politely, Calaethis averted his eyes, and looked at the celling. "Perhaps.. when you have time you could go over it with me then, dear cousin" he replied with genuine warmth in his voice. He grinned suddenly and shot a cheeky look at Verloren, "Does your Majesty with this disgraced and humbled one to leave your revered presence?" he bowed mockingly and winked at her. "Seriously though, perhaps I should return later - yes, yes Ali, call me a prude if you wish, but - I've really no desire to see either of you two nude in your bath. And now you've dumped that filth in my room" he grinned, "I've nowhere to stay..." he gave a mock sigh, and winked again. "V, why did you give me these rooms, if they're Allienes? I s'pose I could share with her but..." he paused and waited for his kin to answer.

"Ah, well, you were sleeping, and I felt my lady Alliene return to the estates, so I found her and joined her in a bath," she looked around and located an extra glass. Picking up the bottle, she drew Shadow out with her,
"You know, I've never bathed in human form," she told him as they ascended the stairs, "And skin is a great deal more sensative than scales," she twirled her wind glass between her fingers, "I think I'll put that bath of yours to use, since you havn't used it yet," she winked at him

Verloren hunched her shoudler's,
"It pleases me to hear that you don't want to see us naked, sirrah," she sniffed, "And anyway, I didn't give you these rooms, I suggested them, forgetting they were hers. I can't keep track of every room in the manor," she straightened and began to rise, "Now you may leave, I need to speak to my Lord Avalon," she sighed.
