OOC: Sorry about forgetting you Stonerock, it was nothing personal, I just forgot. lol, not that you're forgettable

As the mages begin casting their magics weaving and flowing together in an invisible, yet almost tangible web of energy the companions feel wrapping itself about them, first with a cloaking spell to protect them from dragons alarms and minor traps, then one to protect against divination magics, and finally a spell of translocation.

With a slight *pop* the magic of the combined wizards brings them into the lair of the great wyrm, the very embodiment of evil, greed, and ambition.

The teleporting left them all slightly queasy, even the dwarf Stonerock felt a momentary desire to spill the contents of his stomach on the ground, yet he fought it, more successfully than Sir Morguerat, or Kadgar, and after a stern glare from Magnus, Fenric stopped himself from lapping up the fluid on the ground.

Now begins the real danger Sir morguerat whispered, his voice silenced by another spell, and telepathically sent thanx to Spirit Burner, his huge sword. I think we'd best start by looking downward, the vast majority of reds keep their horde close to the heart of the inferno in which they live, both for comfort and for the deterrent it provides to would be thieves.

Above them they heard a distant scraping sound, as of massive swords, or perhaps claws, scraping across stone and an equally distant rumbling.

The group walks down the tunnel feeling it growing hotter and dipatching the dragons minor minions along the way. All of a sudden they walk into a huge chamber presumably the dragon's lair. Magnus casts a light spell, everyone prepared for the worst, but luckily the dragon isnt home. Everyone takes a sigh of relief. Dantes says "I'll guard the enterance you all good look for what we need, so we can get out of here quickly." The group agrees that this is a good idea and they all spread out to look through the giant horde for the desired items. As they all spread out a change takes place in Dantes. He starts growing larger, and he takes on a reddish tint, anfter a few second he has transformed into the form of a Red Dragon. "So you thought you could just take my treasures" Balagos says. The most chillingly evil laughter any of the group has ever heard echoes throughout the chamber. come then lets see what you got. Balagos takes an extra deep breath, and the room is bathed in flame.
OOC: balagos was pretending to be Dantes to trick you all because he is just an evil sob. hope you all like the twist. have fun

As the wyrm Balagos exhaled Sir Morguerat dove into a roll, as he watched his companions disappear into the white-hot wash of flame he felt a cooling breeze overtake him, before it collapsed underneath the dragon's onslaught, his plate and mail armor beginning to glow from the extreme heat, charging forward to strike even before he knew what he was doing, he brought both swords together against a huge armored leg.

While the blades had seemed large before now they seemed less than a shortsword to him, and the dragon didn't seem quite as mammoth as he had first suspected, a single word rose up from the throat of the paladin audible(the dragon formerly dantes had undone his part of the spell that warded against noises) over the roar of the flames and the screech of scales on stone, and tail against rock, "TRAITOR".

Sir Morguerat briefly wondered if his companions were alive, and if they were would they use this brief distraction to flee, for the sake of their souls and whatever lives they had left to them he hoped to Torm that Tymora, the lady luck herself would smile on the companions and let them escape.

But such trivial thoughts are less than momentary things in the heat of battle and as he struck, his swords bouncing off scales, and rarely drawing a drop or two of the dragons lifeblood he could see his own chance for survival being extinguished by the behemoth in front of him.

OOC>Brilliant Plot Azrael. I do believe I'll have to "borrow" that one for future use. just kiddin.
IC> StoneRock- Seeing the man known as Dantes transform before there eyes, he shouts, "Traitor, ye will fall for commiting such a SIN!" With instance, he grabs a magical ice throwing hammer (the stats are Throwing Ice hammer +3. When thrown, these collossul hammers stop for nothing. Anything that gets in its path, will be burned with 2d14 ice damage and 3d7 magic damage. They're like the Griffon Rider hammers from Warcraft 2) and chucks it at the dragon.
Sir Jorlon- "Your evil SINS DIE HERE DANTES!" And he charges at the dragon
Khadgar- Casts invisibility and starts casting defensive spells.

OOC: dantes is not a dragon, but the dragon was posing as dantes, i dunno guys i just thought of this one as i made the post. and also balagos did the extended breath that it describes in the description. I know i am just plain evil [img]smile.gif[/img]

ic: Balagos swats away the missle aimed at his head, and feels a slight pain in his hand, and then notices a prick on his leg. "the paladin" Balagos almost laughs the words. He sweeps a clawed hand at the paladin knocking him across the room. "foolish mortals you think you can defy ME, king of dragons" Balagos rumbles. Then he charges for the dwarf that threw the painful weapon. He bites the dwarf taking a large chunk of armor and flesh out of his midsection. Balagos then spits it out, "I hate the taste of dwarf" he rumbles.

OOC: neither character is dead, both just injured, my advice find that stone and get the hell out of there ASAP, because the dragon is about 100 times more powerful than your party, you read the description he is a total badass, get your stone and book and get back in the lord of the forum thread after you heal. with the surprise attack i dont think you can win this one.
Also borrow it if you want to. i just thought of it when i saw your posts and knew we needed to wrap this up. have fun with the idea of a traitor as much you can please use the idea if you think it would make other threads more fun [img]smile.gif[/img]

His whole body covered with burns, Magnus took out the Amulet and swept his palm in a circular motion over it.

"O Lords of Time, hear now my plea,
Slow your pace down for my friends and me!"

Almost at once the dragon's movements seemed to slow down; his claws moved very slowly through the air, as did the jets of flame he spewed out from his mouth. A loud and very slow tick-tock, tick-tock sound could be heard. The Amulet was taking effect!

"Gee, Master, the Amulet really works!" cried Rufus as he dashed to StoneRock and handed him a healing potion.

"Don't waste time!" screamed Magnus. "The effect can wear off any time now! Quickly, get the things we need and let's get going!"

"Dragon... Bad!" growled Fenric fiercely. "Fenric... Kill!" And Fenric sprang towards the (still slowed-down) dragon's eyes (Fenric's got super-leap [img]tongue.gif[/img] ), claws ready to gouge them out...

(ooc: Hey fellas, how about giving Fenric at least some chance to blind Balagos?

)

As Fenric flies through the air the dragons eyes close and fenric's attack bounces harmlessly off the scales that now cover the dragon's eyesalmost instantly after the attack the dragon recovers from the effect of the amulet. Balagos gestures and a floating hand appears inches away from, and then grabs Magnus. His eyes widen at this sudden attack, and then bulge as the claw begins squeezing him. Magnus coughs up some blood and lets out a strangled gurgle for help.
OOC: The amulet wears off the dragon if an attack is made due to his high magic resistance, but you have to play like your characters dont know this. And you better save Magnus so you can use the device again, and get out of there. One of you better grab that stone too. Balagos just cast the choking claw spell as talked about on the balagos page.

IC:Having blacked out briefly when he hit the wall of the cave Sir Morguerat shook his head took a staggered breath noting that he had at least 3 broken ribs and probably worse that he had yet to discover.

As he rose to his feet he saw Fenric charging the dragon and begin tearing at it's eyes, as the knight took a step forward he stumbled on the uneven ground, looking down he saw that it wasn't the ground at all but a stone of the purest blue it's facets reflected the red dragonflame in a rainbow of colors the way it transformed the light into pure radiance told the paladin everything he needed to know, it was indeed the stone, the Pommel Jewel H'rrrK A'ckm'Yh'Ead (just in case nobody got the joke yet, it's pronounced hrrk ack my head).

Quickly dropping both his blades he scooped up the gemstone and dropped it into his pouch, then grasping his blades once more he ran forward to find Magnus and his fellows to tell them it was time to get out while they could
