well technically since you said item spell scrolls should count. so a fireball scroll for example at the right level should do it.

there was also an item that could cast fireball once per day but i really cant remember it...

But wouldn't you usually cast a fireball so you don't take damage?

ZFR's answer makes sense to me. While you usually would want to cast it away from yourself, I have sometimes fireballed myself in an effort to hit more enemies. And last time I checked, I was sane [img]smile.gif[/img]

ok, what in-game bug allows a specialist mage to be able to memorize all spells?

I had a paladin once who dueled to specialist and could learn all spells
