Oils are dispellable, and I still have the belt, been there since I first equipped it. What do I have? Sadly very little that could aid me in this battle. Most unique rings from SoA, Cloak of Reflection, most unique ToB weapons and armors, Girdle of Fire Giant Strength, and an insane amount of useless junk.

Okay.
Review this setup. Yellow Dragon Scales Belt of Inertial Barrier Preserving Boots Armor of Faith Oil of Speed or Ring of Gaxx or Bracers of Blinding Speed or Improved Cloak of Protection +2 You get speed, you get immunity to Dispel Magic and you get immunity to Missile Damage. In fact... cast a clone, make him cast Armor of Faith and be a target board for the Solars while you focus on Melissan. Have I left in any fatal flaw???? |

Wait a second... Doesn't Ilasera dispel with every frigging hit? Therefore, you'd have to pause so many times that you'd never get anywhere, or you'll have to live without the Boots of Speed. And, does immunity to missile damage actually make you invulnerable to any of the effects of Ilasera's missiles? Because, IIRC, they also cast Miscast Magic on hitting.

if you cannot win it any other way, clua the shield in.
Cheese, yes, but a pity to loose all your hard work because of some nasty little flaw.

Giyaaaah! I surrender. After giving up Insane since it, well, just becomes plain insane when the Fallen Solars start to show up, I became hellbent on at least beating Amelyssan on Hard. I have to give that up as well though. What really irks me is that Amelyssan on Hard is anything but unbeatable. I've several times been so close to killing her that I've gotten urges to rip off my hair when one of those Babau's appears out of nowhere and somehow manages to connect with a 132 dmg backstab while I'm running at quadruple speed around the throne trying to dodge the about three million demons littered on the field and waiting for Amelyssans Divine Mantle to run out so I can pepper her face with those five or ten final blades required to TERMINATE HER DISGUSTING EXISTANCE!
Anyway, I don't ever want to see another demon, so I settled for defeating Amelyssan on Core rules, which was overwhelmingly easy compared to the ordeal on the upper difficulties. Full report tomorrow, I think.

A blade can handle it with PfMW methinks... And by that level, they will NOT be such bad fighters. Add in Tenser's Transformation and Offensive spin...
