Ah, yes. The fundamental flaw in studying an arts subject too far. Analyse something that deeply and you'll find things the author diddn't mean to do. In music class back when I was in school, we used to analyse each other's compositions. The stuff people came up with about mine made me sound really clever, but it was all complete crap, I diddn't mean to do any of it . It just sounded nice...

Gave up on the arts there and then. Study Engineering now...

Does anyone know what it means when out of the blue your knee starts swelling to the point where it's becoming difficult to walk, or even bend your leg ?

I mean, i didn't bump into anything, i didn't fall, and i haven't been bitten by some sort of bug. It started this morning, and right know my knee is twice it's normal size. It doesn't hurt or anything, it's just getting pretty hard to move around, or even sit in a chair. Just my luck again.

Well, if you rule out shock or spraining then that only really leaves allergies. Don't forget that there are plenty of critters out there who can sink their claws in you without you feeling it

I'd put your leg up. And I hope its better pronto!

Half the time I don't even think the author meant to put all those symbols in there, they just popped up.
Don't suppose you have a list/document of those symbols? One of the questions that could be on our exam paper could be about symbols Golding uses.

And I agree - half the time those symbols aren't intended.

This is not the first time i have something stupid and unexplainable happening to me btw... No relevance with this particular thing, but still freaky. When i was 18 i woke up one morning and my eye hurt a bit. When i looked in the mirror, i saw it was a bit swollen. Two hours later i looked like a boxer who took a punch right on the eye, i had a completely swollen, black left eye.

I remember it was on a saturdaymorning, and the regular doctors don't work in the weekends, so off i went to the hospital. When i got there, i had one hell of a time trying to convince the doc that i didn't get punched in the face, and that it came out of nowhere, just like that. He had this arrogant grin on his face, and he didn't believe one word of what i said to him, and eventually i told him to go @#c* himself, and i went to another hospital to see another doc with a bit more common sense. In the end he gave me a bottle of liquid eyecleaner and a little plastic cup, in which the stuff goes. You then put a bit of the fluid in the cup, and press the cup to your eyesocket, while holding your head backwards. Then you blink a couple of times so the fluid makes contact with your eye, and repeat that several times a day.

I had a shiner for almost a week, and i still haven't got a clue where it came from. It never came back, but it still boggles my mind sometimes.

Edit: Edited no less than 4 times because of typos. Apparently there's something wrong with my fingers too.

Something to cheer you up if you have a random sense of humour. Probably a bit off-the-wall for a thread of its own:

What would Orlando Bloom do?

Johnny, I don't know what it is, but I'd recommend seeing a doctor as soon as possible, just to be safe!
I could look for you and see what I find. I do remember the conch being a symbol of ralph's power, and when it's destroyed, he's left powerless.

Nah, this will probably go away just as quickly as it came. It's friday tomorrow, and i still fully intend to go to work, even though i limp like an officer of the Gestapo . If it's still swollen after the weekend, then maybe i'll go see a doctor, but not just yet. I'm not one of those people who run to the doctor for every fart that smells funny.
