I have msn, i downloaded yahoo a few years ago, but it was crap, nd only one of my friends had a yahoo address. However, one gripe with msn is that i have downloaded the new version (5.0.0.5) - and i think it looks really cool - but it turns out that that is MSN messenger, and as i have windows xp, i need WINDOWS messenger for it to work with msn explorer i guess. Of course i have about version 6 for explorer, as i don't wanna pay for the other one. I'm totally confused as to y it won't work together... is it the messenger, the explorer, the xp, the fact that msn has the previous msn defaulted into it on my cpu and i need to reinstall msn explorer, or something else?
This gripe has turned into a request, into a plea, into a beg for help

I mainly use msn, but it is often hard to log onto or just down in one area or another. I have yahoo as my backup, as you know, LadyZ! And I do wish MSN had the same 'conference' feature Yahoo has! It would make multiplaying a breeze!

I use MSN, simply because sometimes... simplicity is key.

Since there are now two mods ahead of me I dare to post! I use Trillian since MSN really didn´t agree with my computer...

Just to get back on topic, I avoid both of them like the plague. What's the point? Only gets people messaging you. :grouch:

I used to get porn advertising thru ICQ as well, but it seemed to stop after I hit "ignore further messages from this user" a few times. Either I ignored all the sources, or ICQ terminated 'em all and benned their IPs.

Isn't this only a problem if someone has physical access to your machine? Or do you mean that it has lots of outside holes like ICQ99 used to have?

Even if someone on your machine can read these files, it isn't a problem if you have a "real" o/s (like Linux) that controls access to user directories.

P.S. : DON'T SHOUT, it's rude.

That's why I turn mine off when I'm not interested in talking...or maybe go invisible.

Messages are held for when you return to being online, you know.
