I agree with you John without the sarcasm. We have the right to protest because of our nations millitary. It is not foolish, selfish, disrespecful, nor are they pukes. It is out of respect for those men and women who are puting their lives on the line and who have lost their lives that a lot of people do protest. We demand the government respect our troops enough to not lie to congress or the people they protect to have these rights. We have solders dying because our government has been irresponsible with their lives. Protesting their loss of life is not foolish nor disrespectful, when they were decieved in the first place to make them go.

Now you are bringing your 'personal' dislike back into the mix? Who was decieved? Who was lied to? Exactly what lie are you alluding here? Please clarify this, as I whole heartadly was not lied to, nor do I feel I lied to my soldiers prior to deployment.

You know, Felix, you do have a vested selfish interest in believing you were not deceived. Might that affect your feelings?

I saw Colin Powell speak not too long ago. By far the best public speaker I have ever seen, and I've seen some good ones. But, the one thing that kept getting under my skin is how sorry I felt for this man that he sat in front of the UN and spun the biggest story of fiction I believe I've ever seen (in real life, anyway).

Now, I don't think he believed he was lying at the time. But, where the stakes are so high as war, I see little difference in making mistakes and lying -- either way it's serious enough to be a concern.

Truth is, had we left Saddam where he was Iraq would be in the same situation it was in in 2001, a beleaguered, broke, embargoed country. We didn't fix Afghanistan, where the terrorists originated, before we decided to move on to Iraq, which had less connection with the 9/11 hijackers than Florida did (where they trained to fly).

Truth is we needed a war "over there" to give the terrorists a hobby project so they put less effort into coming "over here." You can't say that out loud, though, because starting a war just to start a war is E-V-I-L. So you create excuses, gin up some aerial photos of RV's and rumors of buying Nigerian yellow cake, and then you roll. 2 to 3 years later you are then free to tell the truth, that the war on terror in Iraq is keeping the terrorists busy. But, to say that on the front end marks you as an evil, soulless society ---- and we can't have that.

Then TL has gone and told my inner secrets on his previous post^. So, that kinda leaves me where I like my enemies. Cold, wet, and in the open!

However, what you posted earlier, is way to chilling to ignore!

Just seems to me that senators who support this kind of bill are a greater threat to the Constitution of the United States than Saddam Hussein ever was or ever could be.

Just a quick point, do you really need to ban flag burning in a country where it hardly ever happens?

Fie on thee, Szass-Tam!! How dare you bring practicalities into our debate.

This law is about making it illegal to do something nobody does and that would hurt nobody, if they did it, which they don't. See? Clear as mud.
