Unfortunately, the use of CS Gas goes against the rules of war and the Geneva Convention, which we follow. I also must point out that the US military is NOT TRAINED for actual police work. They are soldiers, hence the force they practice using is most always lethal. Currently the US Marines are testing non-lethal equipment and tactics, but as far as I know they haven't actually started using them.

I think an executive order that prohibited the use of assasination was a mistake and painted us into a box were by the only means open to us after negotiations and other non-agressive tactics fail is war. That's not to say that we should started shooting every leader we don't get along with. But there should be some kind of lethal means where by we can avoid direct warfare.

I think the aforementioned example of Muammar Qaddafi serves as a perfect example of this Sir T.. He was acting much the same way as Saddam Hussein, claiming that America was the "Great Satan" and he was openly stating that he would declare war on the U.S. if it didn't immediately desist in some action we were taking or discontinue some policy he didn't like (I forget the exact circumstances). Basically, he told America and President Reagan "Don't mess with me or I'll will bring war down upon you."

President Reagan response was quick and decisive. If Qaddaffi wants a war, here is a small taste of what he can expect. Scratch one Presidential Palace.

I do mourn the loss of an innocent 15 mos old baby...that was a sad tragedy. But Muammar basically "threw the gauntlet" at the U.S. and President Reagan responded. In case nobody noticed, Muammar has stayed extremely quite since that incident.

Was the bombing of Flight 103 retaliation for the attack...possibly, but I doubt it. Libya was already planning and sponsering terrorist attacks against U.S. targets. I think the plane would have been blown up either way because that was the only way for Qaddaffi and Libya to legitimately "attack" the U.S. without being wiped out of existence completely.

That doesn't mean he's a good fella now. The more quiet guys like him are, the more suspicious it is.

What I meant about "being quite" is that he is not publicly threatening to attack or declare war on the U.S. and seems to have called a halt to sponsoring terrorists attacks against the U.S. also (although I think he still provides sanctuary for other terrorists).

Also, IIRC, he even spoke out against Saddam Hussein and his regime shortly before the war. I seriously doubt the validity of his feelings against Hussein - it struck me more as an opportunistic attempt to prove he was now a friend instead of an enemy.

Wow.. just saw those pictures of them dead. They really got them.... (Grewsome as they are) I'm happy they got nailed. Now, let's get Saddam, and have a 'full house' of Aces! lol..

To the nay-sayers: They were butchers of 100's of 1000's of men women and CHILDREN. As the bible says, an eye for an eye. (yeah, yeah, it also says turn the other cheek, but when both cheeks are brused, its eye time.)

Yeah, FOX is carrying 4 pictures of them, not pretty. CNN seems disturbed that they are "graphic", forgetting that is the intent of graphics, to illustrate the point. And, I would like to join Timber in saying that I am glad that they are dead. Brutes like them should not be allowed to live, and capturing them would just involved them staying in nice, comfortable cells while celebrity lawyers fought to represent them.

No duh Z, just because some of us would rather have seen them taken alive to face International and/or Iraqi justice, rather then cowboy justice, does not mean we have no memory of recent events.

I've heard of "turn the other cheek", but your version is new to me. It's a good one though, i'm gonna keep that one in mind.

I love how the White house spokesperson said that the difference between Iraq showing pictures of American war dead and these dead fellows was we weren't doing it for propaganda purposes like they were. Like I was born yesterday.

I finally figured out why I usually have smoke coming from my ears in recent times, its cause so much is being blown up my arse.
