I had some neighbors in AZ who swore that their house was haunted and that the ghost hated their vacuum cleaner. I did not hear about it until they moved out and I cleaned the house for them to get their deposit back.
When I ran the vacuum, all was OK until I turned it down the hall toward the bedrooms. All of a sudden the hallway was filled with the smell of roses and then I felt like I should be afraid for my life.
I turned the vacuum off and backed my way down the hall AND out of the house!
Their babysitter was also a neighbor so I asked her if she ever got scared while in the house. She told me only when she vacuumed.
She had been babysitting for a few weeks before the lady of the house asked her if she would vacuum for her while she was babysitting and it frightened her so much that she had the little girl she babysat for walk back-to-back with her while she did. LOL
I know I was scared near to death! I had been working there at night, so I went back the next day while it was still light outside and finished.
I wasn't comfortable doing it but it had to be done, but by that time, I had explained to their ghost that I had to do it and that they had to deal with it, it was only a vacuum cleaner!

Does everybody here live in haunted houses? Or *sudden thought* maybe ALL houses are 'haunted' in that there are spirits living there who check on what the new inhabitants do? I know *I'd* probably like to stick around for a bit to see that the new owners don't wreck the place - and it is probably very sad and very lonely spirits that really scare people (or when they encounter something they don't like, like a vacuum cleaner LOL!) Just one of thewe weird theories...

hmm, i wouldnt be surprised to find my house haunted. at night i hear really weird noises, and when i call for them to 'come it' nobody does. also the tv will suddenly make a sound like static when nobody is watching it and it's off. and i can actually SEE blurs on the walls near me. and when i play my music, they calm down... my ghost must like my music . its a really annoying ghost, hasnt really tried to harm me yet... i think i might call it Casper... or not.

I do not think that ALL houses are haunted. I think some are because they are places that spirits are familiar or comfortable with, or even places where the spirits have been summoned to or sent.
I rented a small house once and was awakened in the middle of the night to the sound of towels being folded (you know how they "snap" when you shake them out before you fold them?) well, I sat up and confirmed that I was in my new place and alone and that the noise had been something of my imagination.
At that time, I heard another louder "snap" and felt the wind from it right underneath my nose!
I acknowledged the presence of a spirit, busy folding her laundry (OK, I'm not alone, you're here too) and assured her I would do the place no harm, them I went back to sleep. She was comfortable there and I had no fear of letting her stick around and fold her laundry LOL. I never heard the laundry being folded again, nor were there any other strange occurrences that happened while I lived there.
It could have been a dream, but my cat acted strange now and then as if she could see someone there that I could not. Hmmmmmm.

I was talking with my spirit earlier (okay so it's not mine). It generally makes itself known by disapproving sensations whenever I do OR THINK something it doesn't like. It was annoyed that it couldn't go to school with me, to *take care of me* I guess, but I convinced it that it was boring there and I wouldn't be able to talk to it. Although I wouldn't mind it helping me with the tests *disapproving sensation grows stronger* okay maybe not. It is rather difficult because I'm not sure what I am thinking is what the ghost is sending or just my imagination. But it is very fun having an invisible friend by my ghost.
It has not moved physical objects that I know of, or have any other physical manifestation, my impression is not because it can't but because it a) doesn't want to scare me b) doesn't approve of that (doesn't approve of a lot of things... okay! okay! I was joking!)
I can go for days without ever noticing it, but somehow whenever I read this spirit thread it seems to *drop in* curiously, see what other ghosts there are (maybe read about its friends by my ghost)

I have several, but my wife has photgraphic proof.
She used to near Litchfield in Connecticut, and not too
far from where she lived, about a half day's hike on foot for
a 14 yr old. (at the time) There was an old settlement.
Mostly all the houses where crumbled or burnt down or in
a state of disaray. She would alway's play there and had many "wild
adventure's". Well when she had to move she drove by there to take
some pictures. She took a few of one half house in particular,
this being the one she played in most. Well when she developed
the pic's about 6 mo. later she was looking at the ones of her
play house and noticed that the one she took from the road was
a full house. The freaky part about it, other then the whole house
being in the pic is that there is what seem's to be a little girl
standing in the window waving.
