I have read 3 drizzt books and i am not impressed. may spoil

Then you go play Balder's Gate with your level 40 character with 6 weapons +5, god-like armour, rings, wands, belt of giant strength, boots of speed, potions and anything else you can find while complaining that you need a cheat to remove the level cap (since level 40 is soooo limiting...) In reading the books, I have found Drizzt to be weaker than most would have you think. Everyone calls him this god-like character, when his main ability is his intelligence. I have seen many examples of him facing off against two characters and being sorely pressed to defeat them. That is not a god. That's a gifted fighter. He wins many battles by out-thinking opponents, or being more prepared. In the end, Salvatore is just a normal guy who likes these characters he has made and wants to keep them around and have them do heroic things. Isn't that why we all play RPGs? Give him a break.

There is a huge difference between a video game and a novel.

I dont know where to post this instead of posting my own topic and i have to read animal farm again for my nineth grade literature class and its sucks.. that book is way to easy and boringg. but has anyone else read this book before?

Uh, very simple, you post in this in your own thread, in this forum. You probably wont get many responses from this one, as the title is about Drizzt books, not Animal Farm.

Well, I havn't read all the posts in the thread but I'm a big fan of the Drizzt series. I think, like movies too many people and watch and read the stuff to pick it apart. Why spend all that money just to crap on it later? When I read a book, I do it with a positive attitude. If I can't get into it in the first few chapters I'll put it down. I won't say whether it's good or not, just that I couldn't get into it.
The same goes for movies. Why go there to analyze the the crap out of it? I go with the attitude that I'm going to enjoy the film! I usually come out much happier for it!

I usually have the same attitide as you, but when you read/watch a lot, you can't help but see the quality in a product.

I think no one can argue that there is a huge difference in quality between the LOTR movies and some made for tv low budget medieval movie.

You might have gotten some enjoyment out of the made for tv movie, or maybe you watched it because you were bored, but you probably enjoyed LOTR a lot more.

It's the same thing with Drizzt's novels. They are entertaining in their way, but compared to other novels, they lack quality.

They mostly have a predictable plot, no real romance, the main characters will never die so there is no suspense. The writing and dialogs are average.... It's not bad, just not the best.

..makes me think of all those Fantasy films out there which have given the genre a bad rap only because of bad writing/editting/directing and of course budget.
I was just saying to a friend on the weekend that I'd really like to see "The Rock" do some Conan stuff. I think he'd do a good job of it.
He's a great guy in person. I met him by accident at a Hotel Restaurant in Toronto. They closed the place after he came in due to the mob outside. I didn't even know how famous he was since I don't follow Wrestling.
