This is my opinion on the Brother/Sister problem.

Most people seem to think the main character should not have any romantic interest for Imoen, but I disagree. I think it is safe to say that the main character is at least 18 years old when he leave candlekeep. When you spend lot of time with someone, you develop an image of that person, and you usually keep it.

Now, for all his life, the main character always thought of Imoen as someone NOT related to him, and she was probably the only girl of his age there, so he would most likely have developed some interest toward her.

Now, if I had spent almost all my life with a girl and fallen in love with her, I would not care if someone told me she was my sister. How would you react if after spending years with him you learned your husband/wife/lover was in fact your sister/brother? Would you give up on everything that happened before? I would not.

Hello. I´m new around here, pleased to meet you all.

I´ve been following this thread for a while. This mod seems quite interesting.

Antway, I just thought I´d add my own view on the whole "sister" thing. I´ve always considered the treatment of the main character and the other Bhaalspawn in the game as "brothers" to be metaphoric. I mean, I honestly don´t think any of the Bhaalspawn are blood related. I think the whole Bhaal-essence thing must work in a different way. I mean, there are Bhaalspawn who are dragons, fire giants, kobolds and even were-rabbits (?) surely none of these are biologically compatible.

Plus, the whole argument of the main character and Imoen being siblings wholly depends on both of them being human. What if your own character is a full-blooded elf or a halfling? There´s no way that she and Imoen could be blood related, right? Or Sarevok, for that matter.

Of course, you could *think* of Imoen as a sister, but then again, you could think of her differently.

Just my two cents´ worth.

Oh, and Anomen sucks. Can I join the anti-Anomen club now? Please?

It is very true that no true 'blood relation' could exist between Immy and the Bhaalspawn, male or female. However Bhaal quickened those females (As Immy says "Fire Giants? Eew!) and I won't get into genetic arguments - this is a fantasy, and noone wants to talk about haploids. The whole problem here is, as was said earlier, the emotional bond. My stepson thinks it would be cool to have a romance with Immy, and that is one of the reasons that I am adding a heterosexual track. I can't really quarrel with my husband when he says that he likes Immy, he just couldn't love her, that's what choice is all about.
BTW, this whole thing started with the Anti-Anomen Society, so, you are free to join, just add it to your sig if you want. We are not a clan, no meetings, just the duty to dis Anomen at every opportunity.
