Yes, we are in the front lines of the continuing supporters of 1e and 2e (and their appearance in CRPGs)!

Dracoliches seem to have been sort of adopted by many other campaigns (and standard AD&D), but they do have the most "backstory" in the Realms (the Cult of the Dragon, etc.).

'Tis true, but I can think of a lot of ways to easily use them in many different settings and genres (as I"m sure y'all could).

I was thinking about (sometime) making a larger one. One that could have been from the oldest of red wyrms. I guess we are the "true keepers of the faith" for 1e and 2e.

A larger dracolich? Or a larger red dragon?

Someone has to keep 1e and 2e alive! (And I am happy with that being us!)

A larger dracolich. I think the red dragon is big enough.

I've thought quite a bit lately about DC and 1e. I think after we get combat and magic working properly, I would very much like to have DC be all 1e. There, I've said it. This is not offificial, this is just the personal direction that I would like to go.

In fact, I was thinking that if I were to start a project, or we had to start over from scratch (LurchBrick, are you listening?) that I would have all the 1e classes and races, and they would not be changeable by the designer, though the designer would be able to exclude one or more of each. Sometimes, I think that we've gotten a bit far afield for DC.
Or, if we were to allow class and race changes, we need to add stat changes and additions, too.

I have a nice list somewhere that I've started about what I would like to see in an AD&D game engine/editor.

Me, too! I think that 1e is the way to go - it is the most "classic" AD&D, anyway. I'm sure we could grab more than a few nostalgic 1e AD&D players that way, too...

For Dragonlance afficionados, we could have some classes/races from that campaign as well (being 1e, after all ). (Of course, these would normally be turned off by default, I think.)

Exactly the same lines I'm thinking along Manikus. Once I get my pet project (I won't reveal too much, but lets just say it's going under the codename of DC3D ) to a certain standard that I'd be willing for the world at large to see, I'd like to engage the potential of this community to see this through.

I don't wish to take anything away from Tarlanon or Paul with their persistence with the original DC code as my project is still FAR from completion and I wish them the best of luck. DC will remain the best platform to create mods on for a long time to come.

DC3D sounds great. As I've mentioned before, anything I can do to help, you but have to ask. And, it won't take anything away from DC. Also, a fellow has sent to Paul and I a version of GPDL that he ported to GNU/Linux using the gnulinux library. He very much wants to port DC to GNU/Linux, but knows it will be very hard. He wants to be a coder for DC, but as there is no way for him to work with MFCs...well, you get the idea. I could pass this idea along to him, all you have to do is say the word. When the time comes, we can put DC3D on SourceForge - I've actually been thinking of starting a fork for DC along the lines of 1e, can't changes classes/races, etc. but the computer crash I had over the holidays and loss of an HD nixed that. I'm eager to do something. (Don't fear, I'm still working on DC, it's just slow going - sorry Paul.)

Yeah, sounds great!

In fact, anything that I could "recycle" DC art and reuse for would be great (I did try a few other platforms, but... not much success there).

I am definitely a fan of 1e stuff, too (Should we do shrunken 1e icons of dragons and giants, then? )

For Official DC, no. But for DC3D, I say 'yes'. And of course they could be used for unofficial (not on SourceForge) DC as well.
