and i see, i think, i feel

blank

my whole insides gone
thinking yet nothing pops up
balls swirling around my head
stare, stare, staring

blank

trying to come up with words
different colors different hues
levels of words to captivate the person's desires
and to please him with a new dimension yet all i give him is

blank

this thing ends
seeing anything, nothing ont he horizon
diving into a deep sleep that will awaken tomorrow
and everything else is still

blank

A shadow in the corner of a person's eye
As his last breath leaves his throat
A pool of darkness on the floor
The last thing one sees when ones eyes close forever
The blackened cloud just before the explosion
That strange calm before the arrow hits
Death walks abroad again

The god of hyenas, of vultures, of ravens
The one who follows all of war
The heart, the core of an epidemic
Causer of famine, of starvation, of loss
Death walks abroad again

The darkness in a skull's eyes
The shadow on the ground at noon
The stone that trips the careless foot
A vision seen by troubled minds
Death walks abroad again

Yet also our home, sanctuary
Where all our paths will end
The place where we all meet again
Our destination when the journey is finished
The place to rest, to sleep, to dream
When our life is over, our deeds done
Death shall come again...

Is it just me, or am I feeling a bit depressed lately?

There waits a spectre, since many years past
A man he once was, but now is no longer
He has dwindled, fading, leaving yet staying
Bodyless, nameless, bound for all time
Watching the place he fell, long, long ago
A forgotten ghost guarding a lost battlefield
Alone, unknown, left behind
Silently howling his pain to the empty sky
A damned soul, never to die, yet dead a long time
Trapped on this world, yet still not quite here
Bound here to protect his undoing
Watching a place nobody knows
Guarding a treasure nobody wants
Worthless, useless, doomed for all time
Eternity, in agony, in anguish
Never to find release from his task
Forever

Why?

Why do I continue this senseless battle?
Is it not easier to stop, to surrender
To give up, have peace for the first time?
I consider, thinking, while the sea drags me down
I choose darkness, oblivion, not light
I choose death and peace, not life and struggle
As I sink beneath the waves, surrendering
For the first and last time, I smile

A tapestry covering land and sea
With holes like stars, silver twinkling
Yet too weak to disrupt my work
When all sleeps, and no sound is heard

Threads of darkness, threads of silence
I sit and weave the velvet night
Blackness smothering light and tone
Bringing quiet, sleep, to all
The sky turns gray, ripping threads
Tearing patterns into wisps
The sun rises, coloring all
Destroying my work, awakening all
Tapestry broken, I must retreat
I could not finish, I have lost all
Disheartened, alone, I flee the sun
My nemesis, bringing laughter and tears
Yet when she leaves, slipping into the sea
I shall return, weaving anew
Bringing darkness, alone, to the world sleeping
