I am well aware that many people can say that they have spent their entire lives being in tune with news stories from this man. He has been on TV longer than I have been alive, I think. That is an amazing career.

I hear that he was quite the funny man, off-screen. He even did some joke news reports that they aired for the first time the other day to show that he had a great sense of humor.

What really got me caught up in it all was seeing his collegues the next morning trying to carry on...and how choked up they were on national TV while trying to do their jobs. Before-hand, it had not occurred to me just how important this man was to so many people.
Indeed. I remember coming home from school after the 9/11 attacks (I live 30 min from NYC). I remember watching Peter Jennings on TV, and his words brought much comfort to thousands of people watching.

But he was more than just a news anchorman. He ran other sorts of program specials trying to raise awareness about prejudice, racism, etc. Beyond that, I think everyone will remember his final farewell. Truly an admirable man.

And hopefully, all his hard work and determination to make the world a better place will not be forgotten.

I know I'm quibbling on small details here, but you've got to be kidding me dplax. Sure, there are probably people who love their terrorists, war criminals, rapists, murderers, serial killers, ect.. But to say it isn't a gain to mankind when they are no longer part of it is just crazy.

Their death isn't a simple gain to mankind. I know I might be trying to defend the easily attackable view here, but someone who is a terrorist/war criminal in one country can be a hero in another. Obviously this doesn't apply to rapists, serial killers and murderers.

I won't try to explain all that, because I realise that what I had said is wrong. I wasn't really thinking it through when I wrote it, I was too busy trying to prove my point against Dalamar's.
