That would be radical feminism. "Normal" feminism simply states that women are equal to men and should be treated as such. Believing that a woman should be paid the same as a man for the same job is feminism.

Edit- I don't want to seem a hypocrite; let me clarify. I was just trying to educate... Personally, I don't like radical feminism, either. They make the job of "real" feminists like myself that much harder.

Do NOT confuse feminism with equal rights.

Make no mistake, the feminists I refer to hate men - and that is the basis for my viewpoint.

Look at the word you are using; it gives the lie to that statement. If you are talking about equality, then why use the word "feminism"? Obviously, by using this word you are putting womens interests first, instead of promoting true equality.

Why not call yourself an equal rights advocate instead of a feminist?

Let me ask you this, do you agree with the fire departments and police forces lowering their standards to make it possible to fill a quota on hiring women, who otherwise are incapable of passing the standards required to do the job?

Sorry, Sir Krustin, but it seems that you're incorrect.

Before checking it up I also thought what you did though.

Sir Krustin... Sorry, but I believe a dictionary and a Women's Center employee are more than qualified to define the word "feminism", unless you have some credentials that I am unaware of. People who believe that women are greater men aren't proper feminists. Indeed, many are feminists and don't know it. If you believe in equal work for equal pay, you're a feminist. It's as simple as that. The "Women are going to take over the world" people are radical fringe-type people. Every group has them. I'm sure not all Christians believe women should be in the kitchen and gays on the stake. The beliefs of a few aren't always held by the group as a whole.

As for the lowering of standards for firefighters and such... You know, that came up in my psych of gender class the other day. I still haven't formed a really solid stance on that issue. Equal rights are lovely, but if I was in a burning building, I want someone who can carry me. I don't really care if it's a man or a woman... Everyone should have to meet the same standards.
