Yep, too bad I have the stragetic abilty of an iraqi republic commander... I got totally viped out in all 3 fights... most of it was just bad luck but there were so many mistakes I did, It was terrible... not to mention how insanely hot the room was, and 16 nerd in a hot room for 8 hour is just not good...

But I really have sharpen my strategy...

This may sound exceedingly silly, but everytime I look at this thread my fingers itch. Due to extreme carelessness I got my figurines stolen back in the Rogue Trader days. I don't think I actually want to field an army again, but the painting part is so relaxing.
Is it still posible to get Adeptus Arbites figurines? I liked them a lot. I notice they don't have a Codex (yet) so perhaps they have been disbanded completely.

EDIT: Typo (the one I found)

I was wondering about the Codex books that are our for the different armies, are those like rule books or are those worthless historical whatchamacallits with some stories about the brave/evil/insane commanders of the armies... Cause if its rules, then the Imperial Gaurd are looking better and better now...

Adeptus Arbites are, I believe, simple guardsmen now. Sad, because I have a crew. I'll look into it some more.

Note: one of the cooler conversions I ever saw was an Adeptus Arbites group painted as black/blue/grey SWAT troops, fielded in a converted Rhino with red and blue sirens with a black/grey paint job. Awesome stuff.

I still have a squad of AA, btw.

Arbites are still sold as Classics Which means they are 5 times more expensive than regular figures...
I think the rules for them were published in a White Dwarf article few years ago.

Heh, looks like my own fond memories induced other fond memories. I had some AA squads (and lost them more than a decade ago as said). They were bought in 4 pack regulars with a seperate heavy weapon to comprise a full squad. Also had some carefully selected power armoured figurines simply painted in Arbites livery. And a regular Warhammer robed figurine as leader.
Arbites hallmarks were unit coherency and fantatism so if they are used as spice (if used at all) they loose their egde and would be de facto guardsmen.
Rogue Trader offers provisions for Arbites in power armor so I wonder if figurines in Mk6 or Crusade PA couldn't be painted in Arbites livery for the command squad...
With a few Grey Knights in Terminator armour it might even resemble an army...

Had a look in the classics and they are there. Cool as ever (though most are painted a bit too much on the blue side). They are a bit more expensive, but not in an inhibiting fashion. I have paid more for the same entertainment I get painting a 3 quid figure.

Browsing the classics section. Now it really itches. Scratching all over. Could someone borrow me 100 quid?

Ohh while I am at it - what is the optimal solution for assembling cast multipart figurines? I recall using an industrial grade glue with mixed results. Is solding posible/optimal?
