Stage 2 : 650hp/600lb-ft
Stage 3 : 725hp/650lb-ft

Again, your numbers don't compare to what is known as 'reality'. And still don't see 1000hp there.
Once again you have thrown some imagnative numbers out here, with no proof, and only a hope somebody will believe you.

From lingenfelter it is clear to see that THEY don't use the engine you claim. Furthermore, what they advertise, and what YOU claim, are not exactly the same. So please give us some skoolin on how you came to the conclusion the LS6, and the Lingenfelter LS2 are one in the same. I'm sure it's just a little bit of confusion, easily worked out by a brisk drive down the A-bahn at 200+KM.

Your other numbers are off as well, but

How bout them 'Cards and Cats'? Could it be?

First off, the LS2 is used in the GTO and the Vette - not the LS6.

(from GM Press Release) GTO – the original muscle car – was re-introduced last year and returns with more power and style for 2005. A new LS2 6.0L V-8 engine replaces the LS1 5.7L engine, bringing with it an increase in horsepower and torque.

Actually, his numbers are just fine.

1) Modern GM V8's are well known to get good highway mileage - the Northstar V8's in the cadillacs get close to 35 mpg. highway. Having said that, the GTO gets 25 mpg highway - not 29. However, VW owners should be disappointed that the vaunted german engineering with half the performance is only getting one mpg better highway.

2) 400hp is more than 230hp.

3) GTO: 0-60 in 5.8, 1/4 in 13.8 car and driver
VW R32: 0-60 in 6.5, 1/4 in 14.8 european car

4) The HPA is a tuner car, the lingenfelter is a tuner car, the Calloway is a tuner car. COMPARE APPLES TO APPLES. Stock to stock, or tuner to tuner.

NOTE: The Calloway modified corvette, even though it is a tuner car, is a FACTORY OPTION supported by the factory warranty.

Guys, relax. Anyway, the question here is why do you NEED such a car? Can you afford to pay the gas, insurance, and whatnot? That being said, it's your car, pick what you will. HPA tuner car's are as good as any, and in most respect better then the other vehicles mentioned. That being said, a GTO is a good car to have as well.

Why... WHY!

Why have anything distinctive? Art, a big house, fine furnature. My wife too has no idea why I'd want to spend good money to improve the power and performance of my car... but she has no problem replacing our perfectly functional dining room table with an antique one.

It's all about what you like and what you want to spend your limited time and money on. If turning hot laps at Watkins Glen is your idea of fun (like it is for me) then you'll understand why I spent 3 grand on suspension mods and almost as much on brakes.

HPA seems to be a decent Canadian tuner, while I wouldn't put them in Calloway or Lingenfelter territory, they have some nice looking cars and have gotten some pretty positive press, which is great.
I stand corrected, I could have SWORN I read that the 05 was going to get the LS6. Ahh Well.

The mileage numbers I gave were for the manual '04, the '05 number are indeed 25 , so yep.. the Golf gets a 1 mpg advantage there for it's 165hp/160lb-ft defecit.

While it's counterintuitive, since the LT1 Chevy V8's have had good gas mileage with the manual transmission. The reason is in the torque curve. They make enough power at low rpm's to pull very tall sixth gears. My car turns around 1600rpm's at 70mph and can accelerate nicely in that gear unless you're on a pretty steep hill. Compare that to the average 4cyl that runs in the 3k range at 70 and the burn rate difference starts to make more sense.

Performance is a bit more subject to error, but here's the 0-60 number I found:

www.fast-autos.net, www.exoticcarsite.com, www.car-forums.com
GTO 0-60 - 4.9s

www.motortrend.com
GTO 0-60 - 4.8s

www.fast-autos.net, www.autoweek.com
Golf R32 0-60 - 5.8s

- 4.9 seconds indicates a high 12/low 13 second car, 5.8 indicates a mid 14's car (better than the R32 site claimed but still a whole lot slower than the GTO).

I say GTO, but not one of the new ones. I vote you go get yourself a rebuilt 1969 GTO, preferably a 1969 GTO Judge. It's probably my favourite car and I would love to get my hands on one.

Hehe... welcome to the club, but I imagine you'd better have a fat bank account to pick up a Judge in good working order... and it would be a shame to run one as a daily driver, so pick up a grocery getter to take the day to day beating and get the GTO out for sunny day fun.

Thoran - the 5.8 figure came from the ONLY site to list 1/4 times for comparison; meaning they actually tested the car.

The 4.9 figure is GM claimed, and no 1/4 mile figure is listed.

Hold the presses. Fresh out of New York.

This is one fine looking automobile. I could almost, (ALMOST) trade in the VW for one of these.

Throw this one in the mix there DA, and you might have what your looking for.
