[/QUOTE]he never said you use the same numbers. start again with another 5 and another 25. you can do it thousands of times in your lifetime and an infinate number of times in the universes lifetime (in theory). its all about how the way the question is stated. anyway it doesn't matter i'm just being my pedantic little old self.

Look :

25 - (5*874)

I have 25; I substract 5 874 times from it. I still have 25 as long as I dont do the substraction. So I can indeed substract 5 as many times I want from it, I just have to do it all at once.

I'll try to explain it better : If you accept the answer that you can substract 5 from 25 only once, ok, so you can accept the same with 10. I rephrase it : I can substract 10 from 25 only once. Fine. But 10 = 2*5. Therefor you just substracted 5 2 TIMES from 25 ! The answer you gave in the first place is invalidating itself ! Damn.

You need to re-count the points.

This is a somewhat related question to the discussion above, in that it has to do with how math works in logic problems.

Lets say I define the following:
x = 5
x > 7

Can I then say that the follwing is true:
x < 3

?

also i thought that only worked in probability. or am i just confused.

Yes. Maths lets us say anything, if that's the verb that's used.
Unless you mean "hence, can the following be true", in which case the answer is no.

Well, if you want to get into semantics the question should probably read along the lines of the following. Is this a valid assertion "For all x greater then 7 and equal to 5, x must be less then three"?

Thanks for finally posting this, and now I'll pick on you for grading me incorrectly. I got 9/10 of these given your post, and since it has been pointed out that #4 has more than one answer, including Judge=Defendant which I answered, I actually got 10/10. So, thanks but I won't be taking any more of these.

I don't mind being "average," but I do mind being incorrectly graded. I have no idead how you counted me down 2.

All right, no one has pointed out my two exceptions.

First, who says the defendent is married to the defendent's BIL's sister? BIL can also have a brother...

Second, Father of son of judge does not mean husband of judge. It means person who had sex with judge and got caught

Change "Sister's" to "Sibling's" and the first is ruled out. Nothing about the riddle rules out the second.
