I think that Philly has won 2 Cups and I thought that Calgary has won more than the one in '89 - but I could be wrong....

Aside from that, the Sharks and Flames are similar on paper but play different styles on the ice. The Flames are more of a grind team with good speed in transition while the Sharks rely on speed through the neutral zone for offense and quick plays in the defensive end for clearing pucks.

I happen to think this will be the better series of the two remaining - good speed from both teams, good heart in their playmaking and great goaltending at both ends. I can see both teams getting through to the Finals.

I will make this prediction - It will be a high scoring series regardless of the goaltending. Both goalies will be dealing with forwards that love to get in the crease.

Good luck to all that remain - but I hope the Sharks take.

The amount of storylines in this series are nuts. Kipprusoff and Sutter, Donovan, all these former Sharks playing for the Flames and doing great.

I just learned, by reading around the internet, that San Jose plays more of a puck possession game than we do. Glenn Healey would not shut up on Hockey Night in Canada on how they're an identical team. Of course, he also said the Wings would sweep.

There is True_Moose. We have not seen you around in awhile. How about those Flames?

Of the teams left only the Flyers have had the cup more than once. Back to Back 74 & 75.

Looks like Arnold could end up being out a grand. Anyway like them or hate them I like it when political figures take in a little fun betting on their sports team to donate to a charity while discusing politics/business.

The Terminator came calling and King Ralph was up for the challenge. California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger phoned Premier Ralph Klein yesterday to place a wager on the Calgary-San Jose NHL playoff semifinals - even though the Sharks are already down a game. The duo agreed to put up $1,000 apiece on the outcome of the best-of-seven series, said Klein's press secretary Marisa Etmanski.

"Each person will decide what charity to support once the winner is decided," Etmanski said, noting Klein is leaning towards helping out the Special Olympics.

I have to tip my hat to the Flames - they sure have taken it to the Sharks.

This is Deja Vu for me because this Calgary team is almost identical to the Sharks a few years back under Sutter. The main difference is their speed. The Sharks always had a few fast skaters but this Flames team seems to be loaded with them.

This series still has a way to go but it looks grim for the Sharks. Who knows - the Flames may take the cup after all.

My only comment on the Arnold bet - I'm pretty sure he can't even spell the word hockey so why is he getting involved? Free publicity? What a hack....

That Arnold - Klein bet is a hoax.

Klein duped by Schwarzenegger hockey hoax

CBC SPORTS ONLINE - Premier Ralph Klein shared a five-minute chat with California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger Monday, talking hockey wagers and energy – only to find out a day later that it was all a hoax staged by The Bear, an Edmonton radio station.

The Bear came forward Tuesday to admit the call was a joke, and that it had created a computer-generated impersonation of the actor-turned-governor.

Various media outlets reported Tuesday, with quotes from Klein's press secretary, that the two politicians had made a $1,000 wager on the NHL Western Conference final between the Calgary Flames and San Jose Sharks.

Lol! That is too good!

You know what a perfect final would be, IMO? Calgary vs. Tampa. San Jose vs. Tampa would be great too though...heck, they'd all be great!

I just want to say that I am glad I no longer live on 14th Ave.

On to the Final!!!!

FLAMES FANS ARE STOKED!

Not everyone made it down to the Red Mile to celebrate last night. For those who couldn't join the crowd, here are a few highlights:

* A paper-mache shark on a dinner plate being wheeled down the avenue, with a sign reading 'Catch of the Day: Shark Meat.'
* People actually wearing skates.
* A semi-clad man helping police, standing in the middle of the road directing traffic.
* Calgary's mayor lining up with everyone else to get inside a packed watering hole. It doesn't matter who you are, you're just another Flames fan...
* Police pouring out illegal beer, while high-fiving naughty fans.
