Griever, I'm going to post this poem again because I think that it is so cool and it is so what you are going through.

Come the Dawn

After a while you learn the subtle difference
Between holding a hand and chaining a soul.
And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning,
And company doesn't mean security.

And you begin to understand that
Kisses aren't contracts,
And presents aren't promises.
And you begin to accept your defeats
With your head held high and your eyes open
With the grace of a woman or a man
Not the grief of a child.

You learn to build your roads on today
Because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans
And futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.
After a while you learn that even sunshine burns
If you get too much.

So you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul

That's the great thing about having a young heart, Bahamut, it can bounce back like a superball on the playground, and to paraphrase some of the 'bicycle' advice you got earlier, there is nothing like someone new to help heal the wounds.
I have to admit, I did not really think of my opinion on matters as being 'cold' or 'hard' - just the voice of experience, R, and empathy for your position, having been there myself, remembering how chaotic and non-linear one's thinking can be in that situation. Keep us posted on the prom situation, and who you do go with, k?
