I haven't gotten very far in Thief 3, but the ghost ship was frightening. Those zombies are really scary.

Resistance: Fall of Man, just beat it and wow, it was good. Its mostly a popping out, kinda startling scare, but also the screams of the creatures around u that u can hear but don't know where they are really gets to you. Not to mention the frickin great story and gameplay.

if you can find it, clive barker's undying scared the pants off me the first time i played it. it still scares me and i know the plot!

Hmm, Shalebridge Cradle. Yes, definitely the most atmospheric level i've ever played. I never did finish Thief 3 on account of my savegame being ruined by a glitch in the museum level. Time to give it another run methinks.

Any well done tomb in NWN's, 1 for sure, and 2 I'd imagine. I was in an empty tomb, no monsters, just the ambient sounds/lights...creeped me out to the turn the light on, avoid dark paths thing that was mentioned earlier...
