Hm.. I suggest working on your speechcraft. It doesn't look like much, but it's definatly one of the best skills in the game. Before training or making significant purchases, it's best to 'charm' the merchant/trainer to 100. You'll get massive discounts. It also helps you solve certain quests. Training it is easy. Quicksave before a conversation, then use the 'admire' skill as much as possible. If you make any significant progress, quicksave again. If not, there is always quickload. Good luck

You guys are awesome, thanks so much!!
Aelia, you're absolutely right, thanks. Yeah as you say I want some help learning about the workings of the game, not about how to make an ubercharacter to win it. You're right it's part of the fun to stumble cluelessly through the game at first and learn to play it as best as you can. Most of the stuff that's been said was really helpful though, apart from the bits about golden saints an stuff. ![]() TheGrimm, you're right too, I do like playing smooth-talking healing-type characters who don't respond to everyone with furious attempts to chew their heads off. ![]() BTW, I noticed where you're from! Cool, you may be the first person from South Africa on the forum - or at least I haven't seen any so far. Anyway. It's really late here now, but tomorrow I'm definitely gonna play and put all your great tips to good use. I don't think I'll rebuild my character. It may not be very powerful but it works for me so far. [ 05-01-2004, 08:42 PM: Message edited by: Melusine ]

Melusine I have now played completely through Morrowind 9 times,Tribunal,& Bloodmoon 6 times.
From what I can see of your start it is in very good shape and you are on your way with a well rounded character. So just keep going, you will not need a super uber PC to win Morrowind, just take your time and watch your back. Once you gain a dozen levels and learn how to use your crafts and skills you will start to become powerful and cleaver in your quests or you will die. Good luck and as our friend Kakero said "As you can see, people here in Ironworks are very very helpful. Ask a little and they'll tell you everything." your doing right to avoid reading the spoilers this early in the game so when you ask for help also state NO SPOILERS PLEASE to keep those of us from giving up the whole game. We do have A bit of a passion for Morrowind and it's expansions and sometings we get much too Helpful. You'll understand in a month or so when you get to be lost in the story and the adventures that are yet to come. ![]() [ 05-03-2004, 01:24 AM: Message edited by: TheCrimsomBlade ]

Part of why Morrowind is a great game is because you can develop your character any way you want.
See, in many games, you HAVE to kill things to get experience. In morrowind, a thief character can level by sneaking past things, a fighter can level up by bashing things, and a charasmatic healer can level up by healing, smooth-talking and basically doing whatever it is a smooth-talking healer likes doing. It's quite amazing how many people run around in morrowing needing to be healed. Oh, try joining the temple. They have a number of interesting "peaceful" quests which involve healing, travelling and general helping. In fact, join any guild that sounds good to your character. You don't HAVE to do quests you're given, and you'll find that even the guilds your character agrees with has a few dodgy quest givers. (Much like real life.) There's ALWAYS more than one road to the prize in Morrowind. And there's usually ten. Let us know how your healer pans out. I like blasting things, so I've never played a healer and i'd like to know how it goes. |

Mel
A nice tip for making money .... develop your potion brewing skills. Many of the ingredients to make decent potions are either dirt cheap or easily found. For good potion making you need high Inteligance, Alchemy, and Luck. There are utterly abusive ways of exploiting potion brewing, but you can have fun at 'playing' uber without actually being uber. HINT: Fortify Attribute spells and equipment do not stack, but Fortify Attribute potions do. Neb was notorious for creating some Fortify ______ 9999 pts for 9999999 s potions!
