I do not know if Cyril will object to this, but since he turned over this war to me, I assume that he has no problem with me messing around with the stats a little of these creatures. This is what you can expect, as your characters are engaged in battle with them. I cannot reveal the complete stats, because you should not know everything about the enemy you are fighting. Just enough to say you have "field experience" will suffice at this time.

- An average Grimlock has a challenge rating of 3, unless no weapon.
- Their hitpoints are low enough to be able to kill them in 1-2 rounds.
- Their speed rate and strength are normal.
- Their advantage comes in their ability to "see" you with scent and hearing.
- There are a few "Champions" among them that are slightly better in stats.

Does this help?

OOC: Maybe we can turn this tide if we kill enough of them to make the rest retreat.
and a question. Is there a single leader type grimlock that I could focus on or just a few champion types?
yes it should be morgy. I posted the wrong name for it, thanks for pointing that out.

There seems to be no visible leader within this band of attackers. There are a few of the "champions" left that are stronger and more wizened to the battle, so they are automatic leaders of groups, but not the whole. The Grimlocks run about as they wish, following sounds and scents to find their way. The books say that about 40ft distance is needed to be "invisible" to the Grimlocks. I am gonna have to get some creatures on your tail, Azzy-poo. You have too much time on your hands!

I shall calculate all of the moves tonight, after I do all my blasted homework and other tasks I have to do.

Morgeraut...I need to know your positioning on the map.

Legolas...I hear you are in here somewhere. Where?

Anyone else...Who are you and has Cyril registered you into the melee?

I know I wish I would have thought to memorize a nondetection spell.
Antoher question I just thought of, is how well would a stinking cloud spell effect the 'vision' of the grimlocks.

Larry,I sent my character sheet to your Ironworks email addy (the one listed on your profile, I assume aside from previously noted changes everythign is kosher?)

I'm near the entrance to the tunnel the grimlocks approached the gnome haven from (near where Morguerat left), my spell is heading in towards the body of grimlocks and will hopefully distract them long enough for me to sneak in afterwards and unleash my area affect spells.

Az, from the description I read they have a very keen sense of smell, a stinking cloud theoretically would at least have some fairly severe penalties to their save, just my opinion as an observer.

lol actually the cheering crowds and the smells of arena patrons would probably "blind" them almost completely. (maybe 10' vision from smell) {player speculation only}

~edit~ YAY I'm finally Ra.

yeah thats what i'm thinking too. couple that with my spell next round and they are going to be messed up. Mages are so much fun sometimes. That is until the DM pulls out some really nasty monster on them, or a nearly unending bloodthinrsty horde of rampaging grimlocks. Just wait till that elemental and skeletons start working them over. I've got a few more summon spells I'm thinking maybe evards black tentacles, then maybe a mordekein's sword. do you know if I have to concentrate to control the sword ? I have a summon shadow spell too. and a move earth scroll, I wonder if I could drop the ceiling on a group of grimlocks. I don't know I'm just kind of thinking in writing here. And trying to keep us alive.

the text is rather vague, I would assume that to attack with it you must concentrate on it, or you can will the spell to end before the duration is up, meaning it won't end if you cast other spells, but I am not a DM in this thread, so Larry would be able to answer your question better than I.

Mordenkainen's Sword (Evocation)

Range: 30 yards
Components: V, S, M
Duration: 1 round/level
Casting Time: 7
Area of Effect: Special
Saving Throw: None

Upon casting this spell, the wizard brings into being a shimmering,
sword-like plane of force. The spellcaster is able to mentally wield this
weapon (to the exclusion of all activities other than movement), causing
it. to move and strike as if it were being used by a fighter. The basic
chance for Mordenkainen's sword to hit is the same as the chance for a
sword wielded by a fighter of one-half the level of the spellcaster, e.g.,
if cast by a 14th-level wizard, the weapon has the same hit probability as
a sword wielded by a 7th level fighter. The sword has no magical attack
bonuses, but it can hit nearly any sort of opponent, even those normally
struck only by +3 weapons or those astral, ethereal,or out of phase. It
hits any Armor Class on a roll of 19 or 20. It inflicts 5d4 points of
damage to opponents of man-size or smaller, and 5d6 to opponents larger
than man-sized. It lasts until the spell duration expires, a dispet magic
is used successfully upon it, or its caster no longer desires it.

Larry: Legolas and SecretMaster should be ready to enter the thread shortly. I've received their character sheets and just need to get a couple PMs out to them.

Azrael: The spellcaster must be concentrating on Mordenkainen's Sword for it to attack. As soon as concetration is broken off the sword will stop attacking and remain still until concentration is resumed or the spell expires. Note that any action other than basic movement at an unhurried pace will result in the loss of control over the sword.

The Stinking Cloud issue is a situational call best left up to Larry.
