Shadowhound dives out the tavern window, running for the nearby river.

"My, my," hisses a voice from a darkened corner, "we are the confident type are we not, Scoff?"
A slender form steps out from the shadows. He has been standing there for some time, watching the fight and scheming how he could make off with some money from those involved in the brawl. He was an assasin, but clients and contracts had become thin lately, and he needed to make ends meet. He looks at Scoff's fallen opponent. "A dairy farmer, you say?" he continued. "How appropriate- you fight like a cow." The shadowy figure then draws out a short sword from beneath his garments. "Actions speak louder then words, Scoff. Feel the wrath of Grimslade!" Grimslade lunges. |

Scoff looked up, bewildered, and barely managed to avoid ending up like a shish-kebab. He jumped back to buy himself time to recover, and focus on this new oponnent. His third for the day. At least this one seemed more of a challenge.
The pirate knew he'd lost the initiative, and decided to fight on the defensive, waiting for an opening. |

Blast! Grimslade thought. He had lost the element of surprise. Now things had to get messy. Still, it was worth it. He figured that this pirate had at least a few gold pieces on him, which could afford the assasin to live comfortably until he found his next employer.
Ignoring the chaos around him, Grimslade aimed an elegant cut at his opponent, slicing through the air perfectly and gracefully. "There are no words to describe you!" he hissed, hoping he could spark the pirate's rage with a few barbed insults. (NB: I hope that insult is correct- I can barely remember the Monkey Island insults! It was so long ago!!) |

Skoff looked insulted for a moment, but then a grin broke out on his face, revealing three missing teeth and a bad breath. They didn't make grog like they used to...
"Oh yes there are Grimslade," he told the assassin as he parried the thrust. "You've just never learned them!" Again he swung his weapon several times in quick succession. High, low, high, with litte variation but matching an inner rythm he had felt since childhood... |

Trying to elaborate on his success, Scoff striaghtened his back as he looked his adversary in the eye. Trying to impress with a boast, he proclaimed
"Nobody's ever drawn blood from me and nobody ever will!" He bent into a half-crouch again and brought his weapon up. [ 05-26-2002, 12:05 PM: Message edited by: Legolas ] |

For a split second, the assassin was dismayed at the pirate's witty retort. As hard as it was for Grimslade to admit, he had to concede to himself that he had underestimated this foul-mouthed, beer swilling ruffian.
Grimslade regained his composure, and made a silent promise to himself to make sure that the pirate would never live to hear his underestimation. He had heard the insult before, when he used to hide in a particular forest, and lie in wait for passers by who used a worn and dusty path. Highway robbery was not his style; he was far too professional for that. But it was an easy source of money when it was needed. He recalled two pirates exchanging such an insult. But that was a long time ago. He could only barely catch a glimmer of the insult's retort. "That is because you run so fast, Skoff," said Grimslade sibilantly. He leapt at the crouched figure, aiming downwards with his faithful short sword, quick to add another insult of his own. "My sword will cut through you like a shish kebab!" he cried. |

With quite some effort, Skoff managed to parry the blow. A swordtip only barely missed his leg as he struggled to recover. He gave up some ground to buy time. The pirate had no idea how he could turn this one to his advantage.
He nonetheless drew himself up. "Oh yeah? I'm shaking, I'm shaking," he sneered at the assassin. Then there was another attack. Skoff moved his sword up to deflect the thrust, but the weapon bit his side. He quickly retreated some more, putting a table between the two of them. His vest darkened as blood began seeping through, but he ignored it. He wouldn't let a little blood deny him victory... |

Sarlif Garbagebeard strolls confidently through the door of the bar. He pauses a moment to survey the carnage and mayhem going on around him. The he pulls a 3 foot fish, looking and smelling like a 3 day old cod, out of his beard and runs around slapping as many people as possible with the fish. Everyone smacked with the fish then smells of raunchy 3 day old cod. Most are not happy.
