Oh, well, I see. I guess my first inclination -- that he will be able to somehow "export" abilities from the Matrix or that he has some connection with it even when he's out of it -- just may prove right after all.

If that's the case, then... can Smith-as-Bane do exactly the same thing? After all, he is the *only* survivor of the ill-fated counter-attack, and he is in a coma, same as Neo...

What better way to control the rogue element of your society then by giving them the illusion of freedom?

Control over the rogue human element and over the anomoly in the Inner Matrix (ie Neo). Remember the Martix is all about control, and having a fallback systems like an outer Matrix (ie Zion) allows them to extend that control.

Yes... but if there is an 'outside' Matrix, that means the 'rogue' humans must be still plugged-into it, right? Otherwise the theory just doesn't work. So why would they need to control it any further if that's the case?

Question Mark

Matrix within a Matrix? Nope.

The future of both Man and Machine is together, which means a merging of sorts...or at least some sort of accomodation. Investigate the standard dynamical system of a predator/prey situation; the machines have found one stable sequence (allow the humans to propogate then cull them at a certain point predicated upon the appearance of an "integral anomoly"), but the soon-to-arrive new solution won't be centered around so much death, which means the Machines will no longer need the Matrix at all.

On the other hand, I guess we'll find out tomorrow...at least Belle and I will find out at 1715 in the afternoon.

As you know from our previous thread, I agree that the matrix within a matrix is unlikely. I'm missing the 12:01 showing at the Burnham two blocks from me. Rain and I will see it Friday or Saturday.
