Whats the whole thing about Snakes and Foxes? I'm amazed you guys actually managed to link it to the people through the doorways..I could never figure out why Jordan spent so much time talking about an unwinnable board game..
And I cant wait to see what happens in the next book when the Asha'Man realise that the taint is gone..I'm wondering if removing the taint also cures the insanity. Does anyone know who this Moridin fellow is by the way? Or Cydane(sp)? Its rather obvious Cydane (was that the name? I havent been reading lately) is Lanfear, so that means they CAN be brought back from the "other side"..so whos this Moridin guy using the True Source? ------------------ No-Name Face |

SPOILERS!!!! * * * * * * * * * * * First off, Snakes and Foxes... just as in the game, you can't win against them unless you cheat. Cheating is doing things like bringing metal or fire or musical instruments into their dimension. This stuff obviously makes them vulnerable in some way. So basically when Mat and Thom go for Moiraine I can see then "cheating" to win by bringing that kind of stuff with them. Thom can handle the musical part, Mat may even bring fireworks, and they both pack a lot of knives. as far as the taint goes, not more than a handful of the male channelers are insane at this point, so it's not really a big deal whether it cures it or not. No more will become insane from it. The Dark One can revive his servants, yes. Osan'gar and Aran'gar are Aginor and Balthamel, the first two forsaken to die, reborn. As far as Cyndane goes, she is indeed Lanfear, but it appears that she got her new body from the snakes and foxes, because the people that the Dark One reincarnates regain their full channeling abilities. Cyndane on the other hand is not as strong now as she once was. I doubt that she ever did die, she just needed a new body and got it through one of her wishes with the Foxes. Who is Moridin? Ishamael of course, brought back by the Dark One ![]() Hope that clears some things up for you, if you have any other questions, feel free to ask! ------------------ ![]() "Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans." - Lennon |

Here's another one, Prime2U
Through the first 2-3 books Rand defeats the "Dark One" at the climax..Here's the question.. Are these the Forsaken pretending to be the Dark One (I'd think this would be deadly for them), The Forsaken that Rand BELIEVES is the Dark One (thus the story would be told from what Rand percieves), The Forsaken taken over by the Dark One (as in the Dark One manifesting his power into them, and breaking a seal each time. Rather unlikely, because he'd be a lot more powerful than Rand, but he's been in the Bore a long time so..) or the Forsaken taking the Dark One's guise under his command? Its very strange because early on in the first few books Rand sees a figure with Fiery Eyes even after killing the first Forsaken in Eye of the World(presumed to be Balthamel or Aginor, cant remember) and the second in the Great Hunt (Ishamael) and the others later on. Who whos this fellow? The series is so damn difficult to understand..brilliant observation with the Snakes and Foxes though.. I never noticed it. What is Padan Fain's significance as it goes along? Like why doesnt Rand just zap him with balefire? Or Mazrim Tiam, presumed to be Demandred(?).. Does Lews Therin go away now that Rand has cleansed the source? What about the rouge Asha'Man..? ARGH! So many questions, and I still dont have all of them because I've forgotten them all in the long time since reading Winter's Heart. ------------------ No-Name Face |

LOL many questions indeed, that's one of the best things about these books, they give you so much to think about ![]() Ok, the one Rand thinks is the Dark One is Ishamael. Ishamael is kind of crazy, and he halfway thinks he's the dark one himself. He was never properly bound in the seal like the others, best guess is that in 40 year spans he was free, or mostly free, of the prison for a while. He was Hawkwings advosor that got him to hate Aes Sedai, etc. Ishy likes to use the True Power a lot, and this tends to do weird things to your eyes and to your mind. Rand didn't actually kill him in the second book, he had to fight him again in the third one to finish him off. The one with fiery eyes in the first book was Ishamael too. And yes, the other forsaken mentioned a few times how dangerous it was for Ishy to be sounding like the Dark One, but that didn't stop him. He gave a lot of hints that he was the dark one, but never named himself so. He did call himself Ba'alzamon, which is what the Trollocs called him during the Trolloc wars (he was free of the seal to gather the dread lords and start those wars). Padan Fain is evil in all sorts of ways. He's a darkfriend, and was 'changed' by the dark one himself, then after that Mordeth came to dwell in him as well, and he has some sort of connection with Machin Shin too. Blend all of these evils together, and he's someone pretty scary. He doesn't let himself be seen now that they know how dangerous he is, so it's not so simple as balefiring him. As far as Taim...Rand doesn't know he's demandred. Lews Therin seems to though. I think Logain may wind up being the one to take care of him. I doubt Lews Therin will go away, but it's too soon to tell. As far as rouge Ash'a'man, there aren't any left. Dashiva was the last one, and he was actually Osan'gar, and was killed when that hill disappeared. ------------------ ![]() "Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans." - Lennon |

Hahahaha no... I can't grow a beard nor a belly like that. did you know he's written books under two other names besides RJ? I just have a good mind for that kind of thing and i love books that leave a lot of questions like that fr you to try to figure out. He does a good job of actualy telling you in later books so you can see if you're right or not usually...although that asmodean thing got on a lot of people's nerves heh. |

Prime2U, I'm impressed!
So who exactly killed Asmodean? Lanfear from the grave? Moridin? Ishamael? Are Moridin and Ishamael the same people? Hrm.. And I'm wondering what significance Padan Fain has in the rest of the books in the struggle between Rand and the Dark One.. Most people think that Galad's blood will be spilt at Tarmon Gaidon because he's of "Rand's Blood" so Rand can remain and restore order. Padan Fain pretty much fulfilled prophecy by giving Rand the "two-wounds in one"..

Naw Rand will bleed at Shayul Gul...he might even die...but if he does Avienda will have 4 babies all at once, and they will be rand and the three girls reborn hehehe. Moridin is Ishamael reincarnated by the dark one. Slayer (Lord Luc, Rands uncle, and Isam, Lan's cousin combined) killed Asmodean. Fain...i dunno what part he might yet play. He represents an evil that can oppose the dark one's evil, as seen by the taint being cleansed through Shadar Logoth. But his part in the story may be played out other than harrassing Rand and Co. I really don't know.
