2. I cannot speak about religion because we separated church from state before my time. There are no less than a dozen places of worship between my homestead and place of employment. Which to me is fitting along the lines of the Constitution's First Amendment.

3. Guns, for sure is an issue. I firmly believe that gun control should be enacted and mandated and trained on a regular basis. The use of two hands is mandatory, and I prefer a dead offender over a second offender any day!

We can learn from the French, Canadians, English, add hoc, we just have to be willing! Try again!

1. Good article but more fo the same. Unless you have firsthand experience of these systems it's just hogwash and fear-mongering. I thought the US was ranked 33rd, I guess it's now at 37 though.

2. They say they do, but they don't. Seperate it, that is. Mitt Roimney learned how your religion can damage a candidacy. So did Obama, when he was falsey accused of being Muslim. Looks good on paper, this seperation, but it doesn't happen IRL.

3. ??? Still unsure where you stand on this after reading.

I agree with your last point, that we have much to learn from them, which was indeed my original point. Froberg further elaborated on more issues. America is a very young country and can sometimes be guilty of doing what most young people do, acting reckless and immature. It is no bad thing to emulate your elders especially if they have found a better way.

Every system has flaws, the Danish one isn't magically exempt from this fact.

I do however feel like we have a better society, than what the media and friends tell me about America.

When I watch American News (As in, Fox, MSNBC, CNN etc.) I am actually frightened.
Some times it seems more like one of those Islamic propaganda stations.

I'm not saying our system is perfect, could it use a tune-up, yes. An overhaul? NO!

I cannot tolerate Fox news, and could fully understand why a person in a foreign country would be scared after watching it.

CNN reports everything, bad, worse, indifferent and sells their broadcasts on cable. Unbiased? No. Fair? Close.
I have watched CNN from within Europe and find it to be almost balanced.

MSNBC (Microsoft and NBC) = "Microsoft's New Barrack Channel"! Biased to the left! Therefore, you have to figure it out. A news story about today's weather will be similar to a high five, hoop-it-on Fox. While the cloud patterns are either assisting or hindering the president on MSNBC.

Well I'll chime in with my thought, but substitute Australia for the EU.

Things Australia does better than the US

1. Healthcare - healthcare is free for all, though it is not equal for all. If you have private health insurance you wait less, you have access to a greater range of doctors, etc. But if you need to be treated for random illnesses Medicare takes care of it, and everyone pays a levy based on their income.

2. Crime/Gun Control - there is much less gun crime than there is in the US, though it has increased in recent years with the arrival of gangs from Asia and the Middle East who are competing with the traditional Anglo bikie gangs.

3. Egalitarianism - the divide between rich and poor in OZ is much less - there is a stronger middle class that can live fairly reasonably.

And now things the US does better than Australia:

1. business opportunities - second to none here in the US. So much support for entrepreneurship

2. ability to get REALLY rich - much higher here

3. infrastructure - still better than just about anywhere else in the world IMO

I'm slightly confused. What does religion have to do with making a country better than another country? I can't say that saying that one country is more religious than another makes it better, after all, Afghanistan is pretty religious. Are they better off there than somebody in Holland, England, or the US?

In terms of religion I think they're talking about the seperation between religion and government. In that aspect most people would consider the much of the middle east to be at the bottom of the charts.

In the US, as far as I understand the 1st ammendment, it means the Government is prohibited from establishing or regulating religion.

More liberal people would extend that to mean that people should keep their religious views out of politics.

From what I understand "Free" and "Good" don't mean the same thing, it is entirely possible to have something free that is not good, something good that is not free, or something free that is good. "free" and "good" are two seperate and distinct concepts, So equaling free and good is faulty logic.
