![]() Suspect trips over his pants while fleeing policePENSACOLA, Fla. – Authorities said a burglary suspect was literally caught with his pants down while trying to run away. The man was charged with criminal mischief, burglary, theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was being held on $12,000 bail. ___ Information from: Pensacola News Journal, http://www.pensacolanewsjournal.com =================== Ya know, ya try ta cover everything in your getaway plans... who forgot the belt?

![]() Man forgets thousands of dollars in toiletBERLIN (Reuters) – A German businessman lost more than 10,000 euros ($13,000) in a plastic bag after forgetting the cash in a public toilet, authorities said on Thursday.Hesse state police said the man took the "five-figure" sum with him as he stopped to relieve himself in a motorway service station near Haiger in western Germany. He then drove off. A police spokesman said it was not clear why the man took half an hour to notice his loss -- by which time the money had gone. (Reporting by Dave Graham; Editing by Phakamisa Ndzamela) =============== I'm sure most of that time was spent trying to figure out how to explain it... before finally settling on the truth. It's always easier that way....

![]() You're in big trouble now, Mr. License!DUBLIN (Reuters) – Irish police have solved the mystery of a Polish recidivist who clocked up 50 traffic offenses on different addresses and who was never caught, after one officer noticed his name meant driving license in Polish. An internal police memo cited by Irish papers Thursday said officers taking details of Polish traffic offenders had been mistakenly using "Prawo Jazdy," printed in the top right corner of the driving license, as the holder's name. "Prawo Jazdy is actually the Polish for driving license and not the first and surname on the license," the police memo dated June 2007 said. "It is quite embarrassing to see the system has created Prawo Jazdy as a person with over 50 identities." A police spokesman declined to comment on the reports. About 200,000 Polish people flocked to Ireland during the boom years of its "Celtic Tiger" economy but a poll in November indicated a third of them planned to leave due to recession. (Reporting by Andras Gergely; Editing by Carmel Crimmins and Peter Millership) ================== Wonder if any of them paid....?

![]() Florida nips fish pedicures in the budTALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A trendy pedicure with fish that nibble dead skin from the feet has been nipped in the bud. The Florida Board of Cosmetology has banned the procedure, even before it was known to be offered anywhere in the state. The board said salons had been inquiring about its legality and decided to preemptively strike. The treatment is popular in Asia and has spread to some U.S. cities. A client sticks feet, hands or other body parts in a bowl or pool, and the small fish chow down on soft decaying skin. Texas, Washington, Massachusetts and New Hampshire have also outlawed the practice. A spokeswoman for the Florida board says there's concern because there's no way to disinfect a pool of fish in between uses. ___ Information from: The Miami Herald, http://www.herald.com ================ Too bad.... I was gonna ask why they made it illegal, but then I read that last sentence. Don't want to share the pool with someone who has some obscure foot fungus, and chlorinating the water would likely make things somewhat uncomfortable/lethal for the fish.

I posted a story on this before here, back before I started doing the Odd News threads.
In Virginia, they changed the water after every person. I guess they weren't too worried about the leftovers... and frankly, the whole "we ban it because you never know, there might be something in it" approach is, IMHO, fueled by FUD... Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt. Not reality.

That and Florida has a love of filing lawsuits that rivals New York and California.
