I am a retired truck driver and current housewife.. I finally have the job that I totally control. I do daytrips to Delaware, Pennsylvania and all around - I keep in touch with my family and friends and keep the house running. No kids - just a cat. I am sorry... the Cat.

Retired eh, well I guess Ive only got 39-44 years yet, I'm always told by the women folk, that being a housewife is a full time job anyway, and you can't ever retire from that.

Yes, but I retired at 35. That was 2 years ago... Been very happy since.
I loved driving truck, but hated being self-employed. The paychecks were not stable and driving in this traffic is for the birds... give me open road any day!! So, you are in the computer thing... I do hardware myself now... software is too murky for me! ------------------ Defender for the Light - Goodness knows there is a lot of Dark out there!! - Where are my matches?!? Well I got stuck in software, I'm trained as a Java programmer, and since the e-commerce stuff has taken a nose dive I'm now writing document search and categorisation software. (I'm trying to sound ethusiastic - honest ).
I don't envy people who drive for a living these days, the roads are not a place to spend you life, far too crowded. Ironic isn't it that as technology improves vehicles go faster, and vehicles become realtively cheaper. At the same time more vehicles are sold, so the roads become clogged, and the ability to go fast is wasted. ------------------ 'Cloudbringer for Spamturny General' - BK -Powered by Tainly Corp Your ad here? What kept me working was the fact that so many people need what can only be delivered by truck - everything you use, drive or have in your home or office has been on a truck at one point or another...
Here there is work for me, but being away from my hubby would be too much to bear. So I worked for myself, locally, for a while, until the influx of people into this area became too great and decided to get off the road. Funny, my husband got a raise for the same amount I earned the year before.. The Great Spirit was surely smiling on me. It is hard, sometimes, to be happy with the job you do, especially when it is not your choice. I was fortunate enough, that when I was in a job I didn't like, I worked with wonderful people who made it fun. There is always a reason why you are where you are... ------------------ Defender for the Light - Goodness knows there is a lot of Dark out there!! - Where are my matches?!? You may not know Now... but you will. Keep in mind that it has taken all your experiences and growth to get you to this point... the choice is really yours, where you want to be, and Who you want to be. If you don't plan, it happens, but much more slowly.
And yes, I do walk with one foot in the Twilight Zone... ------------------ Defender for the Light - Goodness knows there is a lot of Dark out there!! - Where are my matches?!? Wandering Joke of the Laughing Hyenas Aquisition master of the Finest of Humours - and the Killer Joke |

Ah ha... made you think!
True, but that refers to planning of a scheme, more like, rather than a life goal... certainly (I love your name, by the way) if one is to have a goal, at least in the steering toward such, you will encounter growth experiences that will either propell you forward or steer you in another direction entire... ------------------ Defender for the Light - Goodness knows there is a lot of Dark out there!! - Where are my matches?!?
