Everyone with a mind of their own was in exile. Now is their chance to do something, IF given the opportunity.

It's not just a case of handing over power to the Iraqi's. Who exactly do you hand over to? Until a properly formed Govt. is in place and operating there is no way that they can be left to themselves. If the Coalition forces were to pull out tomorrow, the only result would be civil war. Not only that, the neighbouring countries Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Iran would also most likely be drawn in.

Anyway, it seems that it will be an Iraqi matter: Blair has already talked about an Iraqi tribunal, and Bush is not against it. Also the Iraqis are not willing to let this thing go, and upsetting them, given the overall situation, is not the most savy thing to do.BBC

Let the people that suffered the most under his regime put him on trial. That'd either be the Kurds or the Marsh People. Neither, I would guess, will be in a mood to go easy on him. But I'd guess we will interrogate him first and then the Iraqi Government or what passes for one will try him.
It's my understanding that Iraqi Governing Council has banned the use of the Death Penalty. There have been calls for a repeal of that ban, or an exemption for Saddom. I'd like to see the Iraqi people try him and sentence him to life in prison and then turn him over to us. We could put him in the same cell as the blind Sheik!

Let him go before trial in a French court. If you think he would get off lightly then you had best lay down the crack pipe

I think that the attacks will remain fierce though less so, in my opinion alot of them are fighting for their lives as they would be sumarily Mussolinied should they not either escape to another country or hide their identities really well.
