Never heard of the game ever, I guess it isn't played/shown here in the U.S. Another use of the term "snooker" here in America means innebriated. I.E., "Boy, Bob sure did pound down those B52 shots! He sure was snookered!"

It's a game like billiards but not quite. In America, it mean to take somebody in, deveice them, rook them, that sort of thing.

My uncle has a snooker table and we play the game where you have a black ball, and coloured balls which either have large spots or small spots, which we've always called snooker. Is that snooker, or is that pool and snooker's the one with the red balls? Or are pool and snooker the same thing and billiards is different?

To quote my cousin Jethro...

This here's a billi-ard room, so that there must be a billi-ard

*works best if you say it with a deep southern drawl and realize that "billiard" has three distinct syllables -- "Bill", "ee", and "yard"*

*sigh* lol - the game with the spots on the balls is pool. Snooker has the red balls and 6 coloured balls including a black. Red is worth 1 point, yellow 2, brown or green worth 3 (can't remember), green or brown - 4, blue - 5, pink - 6, black 7. You have to pot red then colour then red then colour etc. until no reds remain, colours are replaced. Then when there're no reds left you pot all the colour in the order of point value. The one with most points wins. If you foul the opponent gets at least 4 points - more if you foul on a higher value ball. Well that's all the rules I can remember.

Billiards is something different again - that's where you have a table with holes in the middle of the table and a mushroom thing that you mustn't knock over.
