Even as Talthyr studied the barbarian, the latter felt the torc on his neck tingling away. Ah, he thought, he had been the subject of a magical being's attention!

He thought it might be the sorcerer in black. But now it was getting late and he felt a certain weariness weigh upon his brows. Perhaps he should now book a room and retire for the night. The thought of lying on a warm, soft bed was so tempting...

Presently he finished his drink and approached the barkeep. "Ho, ma'am," he asked with a grin, "how much will a room for one night cost?"

After apparently losing interest in the giant of a man near him, yet again, the sorcerer proceeded to drink, but looked ready, as if he was anticipating something important was about to happen, though it could have easily just been the tension of long travelling.
He stayed drinking for a long way into the night, but decided he would soon copy the barbarian and get some quiet night's respite in one of the taverns cosy rooms.

*the dark fiend opened the letter and on the paper was only written one word: "Daerk Lythis" This was a travelling merchant who would be passing through the village and stay at the inn within a week or
so. this would be his last stay.*

Creden, paying close attention to the happenings in the tavern from the corners of his eyes, turned towards KayLisa again.
"We were discussing Bladesingers before that, erm, incident... So, what were you saying again?"

As Zang-Gief stepped into the room he had to bend down to avoid knocking his head against the top of the door. Stretching himself, he climbed onto the bed. The scene outside the window was pastoral, with a full moon spreading its silver upon a landscape freshly drenched with rain.

Then the barbarian noticed something in the room. In a dusty, neglected corner, something flashed. Something magical. Zang-Gief walked to the spot for a closer look.

Unfortunately Zang-Gief tripped over something and fell flat on his face before the could reach the object, what he fell over was Neb's feet which were sticking out from under a table where the psionic had fallen asleep after drinking too much.

The barbarian climbed up and groaned a little, cursing beneath his breath as he shot a glance at Neb, who was totally oblivious to everything.

Zang-Gief walked to the spot for a closer look. There, hidden beneath layers of dust, he found an immaculately crafted girdle, inlaid with lapis lazuli and jade. To all appearances, the thing must have been lying there forgotten for years and years. The magical symbols on the girdle were exactly those employed by the elders of his tribe in their spells.

The barbarian was baffled. What was an item of this nature doing here? Why did no one notice it was here? Should he report this to the barkeep? The strong tingling feel as he held the girdle in his hands clearly indicated that it contained powerful magic. Curious, he put it on -- and before his eyes his skin hardened and glistened like a closely fitting suit of steel armor, while a terrible surge of superhuman strength coursed through his body. He removed it quickly -- and found himself as he was before again...

Glances back at the halfling, having completely lost her train of thought, now that she has noticed the dark figure, and covertly studies him......"have some more ale, Creden".....she gestures to the barkeep, and indicates two more ales....She mutters under her breath, "Where do i know HIM from?" wishing her memory wouldn't wash in and out, but having no control over it, as there is a full moon tonight.....She glances down at her gloved hands, and notices the soft blud glow emanating from them, and quickly puts both hands in her lap, on her staff....."If you'll excuse me" She nods to Creden, and starts to scan the room, looking for something.....

Sultair notices that a few people have gone upstairs, and looks around briefly. Deciding what to do, he walks up to TAOwolf. His cloak flying backward as if in a breeze, he places the end of his staff firmly on the ground, and bowing slightly he addreses TAOwolf, looking into her eyes while doing so "Would you be oppossed to a little fun, milady ??" he bows slightly deeper, and offers his free hand to TAOwolf, while trying unconvincingly to hide a small chuckle..

The sorcerer, seemingly occupied with his drink was also listening intently to the conversation taking palce, and looked to the mage who hastily interrupted them.
After a while, he looked at the halfling again, and gave him a heavy, mind numbing stare, as if he were reading the very thoughts from the back of his head.
