Nice work! He sure has some mind flair there I think he could even get some man points from dwarves, if they mistake those tentacles for a beard...

You know what they say about the length of an iliithid's tentacles...

That picture I posted is probably of a
snow drift. Nobody hereby got that
much snow. But they did get a lot of
dry snow and LOTS of wind. My son
brought home pictures of semi-trucks
on their sides across Nebraska.

The Upper Peninsula?? Indeed. They
actually do get snow like that. Lake-
effect snow no matter which way the
wind blows. Continuous.

Snow is pretty rare here in Australia. You have to travel to some remote inland areas to reach it. I've been waiting 30 odd years and still haven't seen it in the flesh.

That's what I hear... except you guys apparently get a lot of hail, right? (I never saw hail before - we got sleet, at best.)

Last year about this time I did a road trip up through the Dakotas, Wyoming, and down to Colorado to drink excessively and play in the snow. I've been in Alabama since November, and it's snowed on me twice. I saved a lot on gas, but the skiing is lousy.

Yep, plenty of hail. They aren't usually the baseball sized ones you hear about on the news sometimes. They are generally about the size of a 5 or 10 cent piece.

It does make the backyard look like a layer of frost when you get a decent downpour.

What's the difference between hail and sleet?

We get a lot of freezing fog and freezing rain. We see snow once or twice a winter. But we're only an hour or two from the mountains, so the skiing is pretty good.

I've uploaded some portraits for the 640x480 resolution in my forums - I probably won't be uploading the 1024x768 version of these pictures, but will be doing portraits with these characters.

Dwarf King

Illithids (mind flayers)

Looking great, Manikus!

The dwarf king looks quite regal, and the mind flayers quite creepy - three at once is a nice effect, too. (I did imagine them somewhat taller, though.)
