I don't know how I managed all that waiting without an iPod. My niece who is 16 has to be forced to remove hers when she's eating dinner...

I'll check out the lists as I'm working on Special Ability stuff right this moment.

From your list of icons that you would consider, I'm most interested in the ogre magi and the bone devil.

Ha ha, well, that is good, because of of those two is the one that has been started on for months already...

Yes, in those wonderful golden years, there was yet no iPod yet (although I guess some kids had walkmen?)... Perhaps I should have had a Gameboy or GameGear or whatever, but it was school, after all...

(Later, I managed to receive access to the computer lab, which made my waiting much easier - this was the beginning of Internet access for me, although I remember times when transmission rates were 2 bytes/second (I can write that fast - of course it was usually faster))

I didn't have any electronics at all, either. I had a walkman but I wasn't allowed to take it to school. And we didn't have a computer lab. I just hung out with the other kids that were waiting for their moms until I was the last left, and then I'd read a book.
The trick was to call my mom like two hours early.

I was the only kid, unfortunately...

There was a bus, actually, but it was also very bad (it took the long way home, and left me rather far from my house).

What I never understood is why I didn't just walk home. It was only two miles and actually was uphill most of the way, but a really shallow grade until a couple of blocks from home.
Sure I had books and often a band instrument, but still I should have walked. I would walk now, that's for sure.

Mom picked me up after school when I was seven. After that, I walked home until I turned ten. After that, I walked to work.

I walked to work while I was in Minnesota - well rode the bust part way, walked the rest. My best was crossing the Mississippi on the coldest day of the 3 years I was there -19 F with a wind chill that made it feel like -39. It was so gusty crossing the river that my upper eyelashes froze to my hat and my lower eyelashes froze to my scarf. Co-workers just drove by, not that they could really stop on a bridge, and I certainly wouldn't have gotten in their car. It's one of those stories I love to bust out when all the folk here in Oregon start complaining. I used to have several pictures from that era of my life when my beard was white from all of the frozen exhaled moisture.

Gosh, I can't believe I'm getting nostalgic for a Minnesota winter. Especially since our low was like 48 this morning.

Hmm, y'all sound healthy! I do have to walk about 15 minutes to and from the station to go to work, but I don't think it is very healthy, because the train is like a can of sardines, with all the people stuffed into it... (Plus, in Japan, for some reason it seems that people do not cover their mouths when they cough...)

Mnnesota sounds like it has real winters! No snow here, and not that cold - I want some snow...

My first winter in Minnesota was a real shock, as I'd spent most of my winters in the Pacific Northwest except for a couple in the South.
My gal was from Montana, and had gone through several winters in Norway, though, so she didn't really get how big of a deal it was for me at the time.

Now, I wish that we would get some snow. We did get one day with snow and had a week below freezing. That's a pretty big deal for Oregon.

Ha ha... It's not winter without snow! (Your current avatar is rather wintry, actually...)
