Hmm, I see

By the way, I am trying to do all my small pics so that they can also act as 1-frame sprites (i.e., the backgrounds can be transparent) as well

(Of course, some look better with certain backgrounds compared to others.)

This is funny, because I do all of my one-frame sprites so that they can double as portraits and small pics.

I've done some art for the contest entry I'm working on that is absolutely diabolical. After the design is out, I will do versions of the portraits in the regular size for 1024x768 to put on my web site.
Actually, it looks like I have several new portraits that will be making their debut in my contest entry.

Sounds good! It is always good to have options (including the small pic-or-portrait thing). It is sometimes hard to name the files, as that does tend to specify them as one or the other

I find it hard to not just put stuff I have finished up right away on my site... The only stuff that isn't up are either unfinished, or not to my satisfaction

To post my latest efforts would give away some key points in my contest entry.

In a complete reversal of my previous post, I have uploaded one of the portraits from my upcoming contest entry (it's at my site of course). If only my entry could be comprised of only portraits...

Mmm, very nice! He looks old, and yet not old. (Don't step on his research notes!)

That's what I was going for...a way to show experience with out showing 'age' like humans do.

Well, I've been working on a bunch of these for the contest (that is already overdue, but, you know how things are)... Must do my best to overcome to urge to just spill them out here first... (Errrrgnthplblth!)

One of them I started maybe a year or more ago... finally, it is done! Yay! Thinking of retouching some that could be done better, too, but we will see...

I never was a very patient person... (Well, my parents used to pick me up at school 4 hours late, but what could I do...)

You mean my mom wasn't the only that did that? I was so happy when I got old enough that my friends could start driving me home. I could never take the school bus because I never left when school was done, always at least one thing going on.

I can be patient sometimes, but usually end up thinking, "good enough". This applies to my DC graphics, only. In the rest of my life, I am a very patient man.

Even though I love new art from you, Uatu, I say try and keep them under wraps and work on your design.

To satiate the urge to release the art, instead you can work on creating lists for each of monster summoning spells... And then think about how fun it will be to do the icons and portraits for them, once your design is done. Or at least as done as it's going to get.
If you do the lists, please share them with me and mark the monsters that you have done icons for and ones that you plan on doing icons for...

Actually, I have already done that for the most part (1e and 2e lists)...
http://two.xthost.info/uatu/dungeonc...oninglist.html
http://two.xthost.info/uatu/dungeonc...inglist2e.html

As for what icons I want to do from these lists, a few I am thinking of:
MSII: Troglodyte
MSIII: Giant tick
MSIV: Owlbear, hell hound, ice toad
MSV: Minotaur, giant spitting snake (sea lion)
MSVI: Manticore, ogre magi, salamander (triton)
MSVII: Bone devil, other demons/devils (morkoth, manta ray)

...but I am just thinking Well, there is just one monster from the above lists that I have already started many months ago, but just left unfinished...

As for patience and school, I once got mad at my mom for coming so late, but then she got even madder, so... I soon got used to waiting (highlights of my time were spotting a cat, etc.)
