Thanks. Oh yes, The Beatles, good ol' memories !

Maybe that's a little bit harder:

It was winter on the Mersey
Snow was falling on New York
The boats were coming in from Ireland
A nation drinking round the docks
What do you do when the rain is falling
What do you do when the rain is falling down

Young men were heading back to Europe
Rocking the Reeperbahn at night
We watched the airwaves over Eval
Angels were dancing in the light
What do you do when the sun is sinking
What do you do when the sun is sinking low

Note however that the Beatles were merely Tony Sheridan's backing band in those days, and weren't even called "the Beatles" by then (as they went by the name of the Beat Brothers). So your "the beatles, good memories" is a bit off. And it wasn't written by Sheridan or the Beatles, either - as was mentioned before, it's a traditional, author being unknown. So theoretically, Xen would have had to approve of any answer that listed a band that just happened to play this song at least once. And heck, I played it once on a keyboard - which makes listing myself as an answer about as valid as listing Tony Sheridan.

Oh, and I'm not trying to single out anyone in particular, but I thought we'd agreed on not using Google or anything of the kind in this topic - as I've seen several *very* unlikely successful guesses by certain persons lately. Either they're young music history geniuses (in which case I'm very curious about their obviously eclectic taste in music, despite the fact that they'd probably have serious trouble connecting with people of their age when it comes to music - not to mention my surprise that they never shared this unexpected brilliance with us in one of the many music quizzes that we had in GC), or they're just closet Google users who completely missed the point of this topic.
It's not that I expect anyone to step forward now in order to confess to being a cheat, but just try to play it fair from now on, okay? And postcounts aren't sacred.

Hi Grojlach,

this song (My Bonnie) was on a LP called "The Beatles feat. Tony Sheridan" released in Germany which I have at home . I know that the real group name ( The Beatles ) was established a bit later.

My sentence was meant as a reminder of a time, where I started to hear music."The Beatles" were my favourite group at his times and up to now I'm a huge fan of them.

So please don't be too accurate

Loudhy, like I said, I'm not singling anyone out in particular, though I admit I didn't even have you in mind when I wrote that. I'm not interested in playing the blame game however, nor in people begging on their knees for forgiveness - all I want is a more or less fair continuation of the lyrics game without the help of search engines. I personally don't particularly mind if you use google to check on a hunch feeling and then post your answer, but at least have the decency to refrain from posting any answers to lyric quotes of bands or songs you've never even heard of in your life.
