Ahhh.... would that be the British troops setting it on fire during the War of 1812?

'cuz they're jerks.
I call do over, as this one is a bit...dodgy. A myth, one might say...the White House was white before the burning of Washington. As for why, the American navy was a joke and couldn't keep the British out of Chesapeake Bay.

The British Troops had made their way to Washington (after landing to the East from Chesapeake Bay). After routing the US troops at Brandeburg, a party including General Grieg entered the city under a flag of truce and were subsequently fired up and Grieg's horse was hot out from under him. Incessed at the violation, Grieg ordered the destruction of all government buildings.

Well the why I was looking for was to do with the USA selling arms and equipment to Napoleon. Britain had blockaded of the whole of Europe from the sea and was in a desperate struggle to prevent total French domination but the USA thought it could ignore the blockade, after all there was money to be made! So the British sent over an army to make the president change his mind!
Anyhow Micah that is enough information, your turn to ask the well hard question!

Okay, let's stick with the war of 1812.
Here's a four part question: a) The USS Constitution holds two unique distinctions, one within the US Navy and one for all current Navies around the world. What are they? b) The design of the USS Constitution was unique for her time. Why? c) The Constitution was one of the "original six frigates" designed by Joshua Humphreys, name the other five. d) The Constitution sunk or captured 10 British warships including three frigates during the war of 1812. Name the three frigates.
