Yeah, but the Dark Sun idea (IIRC), with the halflings being half-sized blood crazed cannibals was a cool idea

By front end, I mean a nice, user friendly GUI. I use D.O.G., which you can find a link to on the DosBOX site.

Interesting point, Manikus, yes, they should have just retired D&D and made a entirely new game, and a entirely new world. But d&d without Cormyr? Isn't that like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich without the peanut butter? Ah, Cormyr.... The memories.... My group tore that place up! You wouldn't believe how many barfights we got into.... I'm not kidding, it was a running joke. My character actually decapitated an orc in one...with her fist!

As far as the halflings looking like just really short humans, yeah, I don't like that either. I'm sure you know the deal...
The "fine" people that run Tolkien's estate made a big stink over D&D ripping off Tolkien's work (which I personally don't think they were in the first place...) so Wizards made Halflings basically really short humans. :\ It's weak, my kid brothers could have done something better, but hey, it's Wizards, what do ya expect, people...?

I read that it wasn't the Tolkien estate (as they have virtually none of the rights anymore), but was New Line Cinema. Tolkien just gave us beautiful words, but Jackson gave us moving pictures.
