I think you should ask: van Basten selected Babel. What's wrong in this picture.

And Heitinga, doesn't that make the picture even more odd ? Could it be that he doesn't WANT to win ?

Possibly. He always stated his goal was to become European Champions in 2008. But Heijtinga and Babel are just WEIRD choices for a national squad. I would've picked Seedorf or Davids instead of those two. Or Serginho Greene

Well, defensively we don't have that much choices to begin with, but Babel hardly saw any playtime with Ajax, and now he's among the 23 players for the WC, that doesn't make any sense at all. If Dick Advocaat would have been coach, and this would have been his choice, he'd probably be hanging from the highest tree in Zeist right now.

The Clarence Seedorf rant ? Yeah, i thought i made a valid point by saying he never proved us wrong in the national squad. Unfortunately there are still people who disagree, they must be blind. Good thing cursing isn't totally outlawed there.

[/QUOTE]While I don't post at Fok (you know how difficult it is to sign up with a valid email address), somehow the anarchistic attitude of the forum appeases me. On the other hand, I don't know how peaceful it is over there. They seem to have a lot of moderators, and I don't think bans occur so sparcely as they do over here.

Personally I think a European team will win this time, mainly because it's being played in Europe. I fancy Italy actually, or as hosts Germany even though it's fair to say it isn't a vintage German team.
