I second (third?) the awesomeness of Dawn of War. My only real qualm with it is that it's more offensive than I'm used to. Turtlers are the first to be sacrificed on the altar of battle

There are also a lot of ambitious mods for it, several of which are trying to add new races. A few are complete or nearing completion (Ordo Malleus is playable for one).

The new Codex is awesome, the Tyranids are simply one of the strongest army now, the New Genestealer Broodlord, gets Scything and rending claws, which count as powerweapon (kinda redundant), 4 str5 attacks, fleet of claw... for only 70 points !!!... and for 10 more point you can get extended Carapace and he has the same armoursave as a space marine...

Then there is the new Carnifex... Who is just scary... weapon of mass destruction indeed...

Nid's get more buglike with each edition.

The melee attacks out there will not help if you don't get into combat.

Thats true, but with fleet of foot, and infiltrate, their chances of getting into combat are much better

I've seen him in action once and was unimpressed. He infiltrated, but has no fleet of claw. So, here he is out in front just begging to be shot, without the benefit of fleet.

MacCragge is a fine set to get if you want to play Nids or Marines -- especially since you get some of the coolest terrain pieces, a wrecked ship. Be forewarned -- the rulebook contains the basics to play the game, but is incomplete in that it does not contain a lot of the fluff, nor does it contain certain rules, such as the rules for kill teams.

If anyone is interested in a forum for WH40K -- here is one for the midwest:

www.adeptuswindycity.com

Interesting rules discussions, post your army lists, etc. etc. I do not make any representations about any of the people there though -- in fact some of them are downright annoying gaming geeks.
